Judgment on Israel
Thus says the Lord:
“For three transgressions of Israel,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because they sell the righteous for silver,
and the needy for a pair of sandals —

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;

even for four, I will not relent.
They sell the innocent for silver,
and the needy for a pair of sandals. -

So spricht der HERR: Um drei und vier Frevel willen Israels will ich ihrer nicht schonen, darum daß sie die Gerechten um Geld und die Armen um ein Paar Schuhe verkaufen.

So spricht der HERR: Die Leute von Israel begehen ein abscheuliches Verbrechen nach dem anderen. Das werde ich nicht ungestraft lassen! Ehrbare Menschen, die ihnen Geld schulden, verkaufen sie in die Sklaverei, ja, sie verkaufen einen Armen schon, wenn er ein Paar Schuhe nicht bezahlen kann!

So spricht der HERR: Wegen der drei Verbrechen von Israel und wegen der vier nehme ich es nicht zurück: Weil sie den Unschuldigen für Geld verkaufen und den Armen wegen eines Paars Sandalen,
