And his mother’s relatives spoke all these words on his behalf in the ears of all the leaders of Shechem, and their hearts inclined to follow Abimelech, for they said, “He is our brother.”

And his mother's brethren spake of him in the ears of all the men of Shechem all these words: and their hearts inclined to follow Abimelech; for they said, He is our brother.

Die Brüder seiner Mutter erzählten allen Einwohnern von Sichem, was Abimelech ihnen aufgetragen hatte. Die Sichemiter dachten: »Er ist einer von uns«, und entschieden sich für ihn.

Da redeten die Brüder seiner Mutter seinetwegen vor den Ohren aller Bürger von Sichem all diese Worte, sodass sich ihr Herz Abimelech zuwandte. Denn sie sagten sich: Er ist unser Bruder.
