And he placed troops in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim which Asa his father had taken.
Der HERR war mit Joschafat; denn er folgte den früheren Wegen seines Vaters David und suchte nicht die Baale auf,
Now the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the former ways of his father David; he did not seek the Baals,
sondern den Gott seines Vaters. Er befolgte seine Gebote und machte es nicht wie Israel.
Darum festigte der HERR die Königsherrschaft in seiner Hand. Ganz Juda brachte Joschafat Geschenke, sodass ihm Reichtum und Ehre in hohem Maß zuteilwurden.
Therefore the Lord established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah gave presents to Jehoshaphat, and he had riches and honor in abundance.
Da sein Herz den Wegen des HERRN folgte, erstarkte sein Mut und so entfernte er auch die Kulthöhen und die Kultpfähle aus Juda.
Im dritten Jahr seiner Regierung sandte er seine Beamten Ben-Hajil, Obadja, Secharja, Netanel und Michaja zur Belehrung des Volkes in die Städte Judas.
Also in the third year of his reign he sent his leaders, Ben-Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
Bei ihnen waren die Leviten Schemaja, Netanja, Sebadja, Asaël, Schemiramot, Jonatan, Adonija, Tobija und Tob-Adonija sowie die Priester Elischama und Joram.
And with them he sent Levites: Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tobadonijah — the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
Sie lehrten in Juda; mit dem Buch der Weisung des HERRN durchzogen sie alle Städte Judas und belehrten das Volk.
So they taught in Judah, and had the Book of the Law of the Lord with them; they went throughout all the cities of Judah and taught the people.
Über alle Königreiche der Länder rings um Juda kam der Schrecken des HERRN, sodass sie mit Joschafat keinen Krieg anfingen.
And the fear of the Lord fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.
Philister brachten ihm Geschenke und zahlten Tribut. Auch die Araber lieferten ihm Kleinvieh: siebentausendsiebenhundert Widder und siebentausendsiebenhundert Ziegenböcke.
Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents and silver as tribute; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred male goats.
So wurde Joschafat immer mächtiger. Er baute in Juda Burgen und Vorratsstädte
So Jehoshaphat became increasingly powerful, and he built fortresses and storage cities in Judah.
und unternahm viel in den Städten Judas. In Jerusalem standen tapfere Krieger zu seiner Verfügung.
He had much property in the cities of Judah; and the men of war, mighty men of valor, were in Jerusalem.
Und das war ihre Dienstordnung nach ihren Großfamilien: Für Juda waren als Tausendschaftsführer bestellt der Oberst Adna mit 300 000 tapferen Kriegern
These are their numbers, according to their fathers’ houses. Of Judah, the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain, and with him three hundred thousand mighty men of valor;

and next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand;
sowie Amasja, der Sohn Sichris, der sich freiwillig für den HERRN gestellt hatte, mit 200 000 tapferen Kriegern.
and next to him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself to the Lord, and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.
Aus Benjamin kam Eljada, ein tapferer Krieger, mit 200 000 Mann, die Bogen und Schild trugen.
Of Benjamin: Eliada a mighty man of valor, and with him two hundred thousand men armed with bow and shield;
Ihm zur Seite stand Josabad mit 180 000 zum Heeresdienst gerüsteten Männern.
and next to him was Jehozabad, and with him one hundred and eighty thousand prepared for war.
