Jehu son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him. “Why should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD?” he asked the king. “Because of what you have done, the LORD is very angry with you.

Even so, there is some good in you, for you have removed the Asherah poles throughout the land, and you have committed yourself to seeking God.”
Joschafat blieb in Jerusalem. Dann zog er wieder von Beerscheba bis zum Gebirge Efraim unter dem Volk umher und führte es zum HERRN, dem Gott ihrer Väter, zurück.
Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem, but he went out among the people, traveling from Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim, encouraging the people to return to the LORD, the God of their ancestors.
Er bestellte Richter im Land für jede einzelne feste Stadt Judas
He appointed judges throughout the nation in all the fortified towns,
und gab ihnen die Weisung: Seht zu, was ihr tut; denn nicht im Auftrag von Menschen haltet ihr Gericht, sondern im Auftrag des HERRN. Er steht euch in der Rechtsprechung zur Seite.
and he said to them, “Always think carefully before pronouncing judgment. Remember that you do not judge to please people but to please the LORD. He will be with you when you render the verdict in each case.
Lasst euch also von der Furcht des HERRN leiten und handelt gewissenhaft; denn beim HERRN, unserem Gott, gibt es keine Ungerechtigkeit, kein Ansehen der Person, keine Bestechlichkeit.
Fear the LORD and judge with integrity, for the LORD our God does not tolerate perverted justice, partiality, or the taking of bribes.”
Außerdem bestellte Joschafat in Jerusalem Leviten, Priester und Familienhäupter aus Israel für das Gericht des HERRN und für Streitigkeiten unter den Einwohnern Jerusalems.
Er trug ihnen auf: Mit Furcht vor dem HERRN, mit Festigkeit und ehrlichem Herzen verfahrt folgendermaßen:
These were his instructions to them: “You must always act in the fear of the LORD, with faithfulness and an undivided heart.
Bei jedem Streitfall, den eure Brüder in ihren Städten euch vorlegen, mag es sich nun um Blutschuld oder um eine Weisung, um ein Gebot oder um Gesetze und Rechtsentscheide handeln, sollt ihr die Beteiligten warnen, damit sie nicht vor dem HERRN schuldig werden und ein Zorngericht über euch und eure Brüder kommt. Das sollt ihr tun, damit ihr euch nicht versündigt.
Whenever a case comes to you from fellow citizens in an outlying town, whether a murder case or some other violation of God’s laws, commands, decrees, or regulations, you must warn them not to sin against the LORD, so that he will not be angry with you and them. Do this and you will not be guilty.
Seht, der Oberpriester Amarja ist euer Vorgesetzter in allen Angelegenheiten des HERRN und Sebadja, der Sohn Jischmaels, der Fürst des Hauses Juda, in allen Angelegenheiten des Königs. Als Beamte stehen euch die Leviten zur Verfügung. Geht mutig an die Arbeit und der HERR wird mit dem Guten sein.
“Amariah the high priest will have final say in all cases involving the LORD. Zebadiah son of Ishmael, a leader from the tribe of Judah, will have final say in all civil cases. The Levites will assist you in making sure that justice is served. Take courage as you fulfill your duties, and may the LORD be with those who do what is right.”
