Um die Jahreswende zog das Heer der Aramäer gegen Joasch. Sie drangen nach Juda und Jerusalem vor und machten alle führenden Männer des Volkes nieder. Ihre gesamte Beute brachte man zum König von Damaskus.

Und da das Jahr um war, zog herauf das Heer der Syrer, und sie kamen gen Juda und Jerusalem und brachten um alle Obersten im Volk, und allen ihren Raub sandten sie dem König zu Damaskus.

Am Anfang des nächsten Jahres erklärten die Syrer Joasch den Krieg. Sie marschierten in Juda ein, eroberten Jerusalem und brachten alle führenden Männer des Volkes um. Die Beute ihres Feldzugs sandten sie nach Damaskus zu ihrem König.
