Danach baute er für die Davidstadt eine äußere Mauer, die im Tal westlich vom Gihon gegen das Fischtor lief, sodass er den Ofel umschloss; er machte sie sehr hoch. Auch bestellte er Kriegsoberste für alle befestigten Städte Judas.

Darnach baute er die äußere Mauer an der Stadt Davids abendwärts an Gihon im Tal und wo man zum Fischtor eingeht und umher an den Ophel und machte sie sehr hoch und legte Hauptleute in die festen Städte Juda’s

Nach seiner Heimkehr ließ Manasse eine zweite, sehr hohe Mauer um die »Stadt Davids« ziehen. Sie führte westlich an der Quelle Gihon vorbei durch das Kidrontal bis zum Fischtor und um den Tempelberg herum. In allen befestigten Städten Judas setzte er Befehlshaber ein.
