Now these are the priests and the Levites who came up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,
Now these are the priests and the Levites who came up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,
Sallu, Amok, Hilkija und Jedaja. Das waren die Oberhäupter der Priester und ihre Brüder zur Zeit Jeschuas.
Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah and Jedaiah. These were the heads of the priests and their kinsmen in the days of Jeshua.
Und die Leviten: Jeschua, Binnui, Kadmiël, Scherebja, Juda und Mattanja; ihm und seinen Brüdern oblag der Lobgesang.
The Levites were Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah who was in charge of the songs of thanksgiving, he and his brothers.
Ihnen gegenüber standen Bakbukja und Unni und ihre Brüder, so wie sie für den Dienst eingeteilt waren.
Also Bakbukiah and Unni, their brothers, stood opposite them in their service divisions.

Adna in der Familie Harim, Helkai in der Familie Meremot,
of Harim, Adna; of Meraioth, Helkai;
Secharja in der Familie Iddo, Meschullam in der Familie Ginneton,
of Iddo, Zechariah; of Ginnethon, Meshullam;
Sichri in der Familie Abija, … in der Familie Minjamin, Piltai in der Familie Maadja,
of Abijah, Zichri; of Miniamin, of Moadiah, Piltai;
Schammua in der Familie Bilga, Jonatan in der Familie Schemaja,
of Bilgah, Shammua; of Shemaiah, Jehonathan;
Mattenai in der Familie Jojarib, Usi in der Familie Jedaja,
of Joiarib, Mattenai; of Jedaiah, Uzzi;
Haschabja in der Familie Hilkija, Netanel in der Familie Jedaja.
of Hilkiah, Hashabiah; of Jedaiah, Nethanel.
Die Oberhäupter der Familien der Leviten in der Zeit Eljaschibs, Jojadas, Johanans und Jadduas sowie die Priester sind verzeichnet bis zur Regierung des Persers Darius.
The Chief Levites
As for the Levites, the heads of fathers’ households were registered in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, and Johanan and Jaddua; so were the priests in the reign of Darius the Persian.
Von den Leviten sind die Oberhäupter der Familien in der Chronik verzeichnet bis zur Zeit Johanans, des Sohnes Eljaschibs.
The sons of Levi, the heads of fathers’ households, were registered in the Book of the Chronicles up to the days of Johanan the son of Eliashib.
Die Oberhäupter der Leviten waren: Haschabja, Scherebja, Jeschua, der Sohn des Kadmiël und ihre Brüder, die ihnen beim Lob- und Dankgesang gegenüberstanden, Abteilung für Abteilung, nach dem Gebot des Gottesmannes David,
The heads of the Levites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brothers opposite them, to praise and give thanks, as prescribed by David the man of God, division corresponding to division.
nämlich Mattanja, Bakbukja und Obadja. Meschullam, Talmon und Akkub hielten als Torwächter die Wache an den Vorratskammern der Tore.
Mattaniah, Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon and Akkub were gatekeepers keeping watch at the storehouses of the gates.
Diese lebten zur Zeit Jojakims, des Sohnes Jeschuas, des Sohnes Jozadaks, und zur Zeit des Statthalters Nehemia und des Priesters und Schriftgelehrten Esra.
These served in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor and of Ezra the priest and scribe.
Bei der Einweihung der Mauer Jerusalems holte man die Leviten aus allen ihren Wohnsitzen nach Jerusalem, um mit frohen Lobgesängen und mit der Musik von Zimbeln, Harfen und Zithern die Einweihung zu vollziehen.
Dedication of the Wall
Now at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought out the Levites from all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem so that they might celebrate the dedication with gladness, with hymns of thanksgiving and with songs to the accompaniment of cymbals, harps and lyres.
Da fanden sich die Sänger aus dem Umkreis von Jerusalem ein und aus den Gehöften der Leute von Netofa,
So the sons of the singers were assembled from the district around Jerusalem, and from the villages of the Netophathites,
aus Bet-Gilgal und den Gemarkungen von Geba und Asmawet; die Sänger hatten sich nämlich rings um Jerusalem Gehöfte gebaut.
from Beth-gilgal and from their fields in Geba and Azmaveth, for the singers had built themselves villages around Jerusalem.
Die Priester und Leviten reinigten sich selbst; sie reinigten auch das Volk, die Tore und die Mauer.
The priests and the Levites purified themselves; they also purified the people, the gates and the wall.
Dann ließ ich die Vorsteher von Juda auf die Mauer steigen und stellte zwei große Festchöre auf; zunächst Prozessionsreihen nach rechts oben auf der Mauer dem Aschentor zu.
Procedures for the Temple
Then I had the leaders of Judah come up on top of the wall, and I appointed two great choirs, the first proceeding to the right on top of the wall toward the Refuse Gate.
Ihnen folgte Hoschaja mit der einen Hälfte der Vorsteher von Juda.
Hoshaiah and half of the leaders of Judah followed them,

und seine Brüder Schemaja und Asarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Netanel und Juda, Hanani mit den Musikinstrumenten des Gottesmannes David. Vor ihnen her schritt Esra, der Schriftgelehrte.
and his kinsmen, Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah and Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God. And Ezra the scribe went before them.
Und am Quelltor, und zwar geradeaus, stiegen sie dann die Stufen zur Davidstadt und den Aufgang zur Mauer hinauf und kamen am Palast Davids entlang zum Wassertor im Osten.
At the Fountain Gate they went directly up the steps of the city of David by the stairway of the wall above the house of David to the Water Gate on the east.
Der zweite Festchor ging in Gegenrichtung — ihm folgte ich mit der andern Hälfte des Volkes — , oben auf der Mauer am Ofenturm vorbei zur Breiten Mauer,
The second choir proceeded to the left, while I followed them with half of the people on the wall, above the Tower of Furnaces, to the Broad Wall,
dann über das Efraimtor, das Jeschanator und das Fischtor, am Turm Hananel und am Turm der Hundert vorbei zum Schaftor; er machte halt am Wachtor.
and above the Gate of Ephraim, by the Old Gate, by the Fish Gate, the Tower of Hananel and the Tower of the Hundred, as far as the Sheep Gate; and they stopped at the Gate of the Guard.
Dann stellten sich die beiden Festchöre beim Haus Gottes auf, auch ich und die Hälfte der Beamten, die bei mir waren,
Then the two choirs took their stand in the house of God. So did I and half of the officials with me;
sowie die Priester Eljakim, Maaseja, Minjamin, Michaja, Eljoënai, Secharja und Hananja mit den Trompeten
and the priests, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah and Hananiah, with the trumpets;
und Maaseja, Schemaja, Eleasar, Usi, Johanan, Malkija, Elam und Eser. Nun ließen sich die Sänger hören; ihr Leiter war Jisrachja.
and Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malchijah, Elam and Ezer. And the singers sang, with Jezrahiah their leader,
An diesem Tag brachte man große Schlachtopfer dar und alle freuten sich; denn Gott hatte ihnen eine große Freude bereitet. Auch die Frauen und Kinder waren fröhlich und der Jubel in Jerusalem war weithin zu hören.
and on that day they offered great sacrifices and rejoiced because God had given them great joy, even the women and children rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard from afar.
In jener Zeit wurden Männer bestellt zur Aufsicht über die Kammern, die für die Vorräte, Abgaben, Erstlingsfrüchte und Zehnten bestimmt waren. In diesen Kammern sammelte man von den Feldern der einzelnen Städte die Anteile, die den Priestern und Leviten nach der Weisung zukamen. Denn Juda hatte Freude an den Priestern und Leviten, die im Dienst standen.
On that day men were also appointed over the chambers for the stores, the contributions, the first fruits and the tithes, to gather into them from the fields of the cities the portions required by the law for the priests and Levites; for Judah rejoiced over the priests and Levites who served.
Sie versahen den Dienst für ihren Gott und vollzogen die Reinigungsriten; auch die Sänger und Torwächter taten Dienst nach dem Gebot Davids und seines Sohnes Salomo.
For they performed the worship of their God and the service of purification, together with the singers and the gatekeepers in accordance with the command of David and of his son Solomon.
Denn schon früher, in der Zeit Davids und Asafs, gab es Vorsteher der Sänger, die zur Ehre Gottes Lob- und Danklieder vortrugen.
For in the days of David and Asaph, in ancient times, there were leaders of the singers, songs of praise and hymns of thanksgiving to God.
Zur Zeit Serubbabels und zur Zeit Nehemias lieferte ganz Israel die Anteile für die Sänger und Torwächter ab, je nachdem es der tägliche Bedarf erforderte. Man gab den Leviten einen heiligen Anteil und die Leviten gaben davon den Söhnen Aarons einen heiligen Anteil.
So all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel and Nehemiah gave the portions due the singers and the gatekeepers as each day required, and set apart the consecrated portion for the Levites, and the Levites set apart the consecrated portion for the sons of Aaron.
