und sagte zu ihnen: Wir haben von unseren jüdischen Stammesbrüdern, die an andere Völker verkauft worden waren, so viele wie möglich losgekauft. Ihr aber, ihr wollt eure eigenen Stammesbrüder verkaufen, damit sie dann wieder an uns verkauft werden. Da schwiegen sie und wussten nichts zu erwidern.

und sprach zu ihnen: Wir haben unsre Brüder, die Juden, erkauft, die den Heiden verkauft waren, nach unserm Vermögen; und ihr wollt auch eure Brüder verkaufen und sie sollen uns verkauft werden? Da schwiegen sie und fanden nichts zu antworten.

und redete ihnen ins Gewissen: »Menschen aus unserem Volk sind von fremden Völkern zu Sklaven gemacht worden. Wir haben von ihnen so viele wie möglich freigekauft. Und jetzt habt ihr eure eigenen Landsleute zu Sklaven gemacht! Sollen wir sie nun etwa von euch zurückkaufen?« Darauf wussten sie keine Antwort und schwiegen.
