Man fällt eine Zeder, wählt eine Terebinthe oder sonst einen mächtigen Baum, den man stärker werden ließ als die übrigen Bäume im Wald. Oder man pflanzt einen Lorbeerbaum, den der Regen groß werden lässt.

Er geht frisch daran unter den Bäumen im Walde, daß er Zedern abhaue und nehme Buchen und Eichen; ja, eine Zeder, die gepflanzt und die vom Regen erwachsen ist

Für jede Götterstatue sucht sich der Künstler das passende Holz aus. Er geht in den Wald und fällt eine Zeder, eine Eiche oder einen Lorbeerbaum, die er vor Jahren gesetzt hat. Der Regen ließ die Bäume wachsen.
