Der vierte Engel blies seine Posaune. Da wurden ein Drittel der Sonne und ein Drittel des Mondes und ein Drittel der Sterne getroffen, sodass sie ein Drittel ihrer Leuchtkraft verloren und der Tag um ein Drittel dunkler wurde und ebenso die Nacht.

Und der vierte Engel posaunte: und es ward geschlagen der dritte Teil der Sonne und der dritte Teil des Mondes und der dritte Teil der Sterne, daß ihr dritter Teil verfinstert ward und der Tag den dritten Teil nicht schien und die Nacht desgleichen.

Jetzt hörte ich die Posaune des vierten Engels. Schlagartig erloschen ein Drittel der Sonne und des Mondes; auch ein Drittel aller Sterne verfinsterte sich. Das Licht des Tages wurde um ein Drittel schwächer, und die Finsternis der Nacht nahm um ein Drittel zu.
