And it was told the Gazites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they compassed him in, and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him.
Simson aber schlief bis gegen Mitternacht. Um Mitternacht stand er auf, packte die Flügel des Stadttors mit den beiden Pfosten und riss sie zusammen mit dem Riegel heraus. Er lud alles auf seine Schultern und trug es auf den Gipfel des Berges, der Hebron gegenüberliegt.
And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before Hebron.

And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.
Darauf sagte Delila zu Simson: Sag mir doch, wodurch du so große Kraft besitzt und wie man dich fesseln kann, um dich niederzuzwingen.
And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.
Simson sagte zu ihr: Wenn man mich mit sieben frischen Sehnen fesselt, die noch nicht getrocknet sind, dann werde ich schwach und bin wie jeder andere Mensch.
And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
Die Fürsten der Philister brachten ihr also sieben frische Sehnen, die noch nicht getrocknet waren, und sie fesselte ihn damit,
Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.
während man bei ihr in der Kammer saß und lauerte. Dann rief sie ihm zu: Philister über dir, Simson! Er aber zerriss die Sehnen, wie ein Zwirnfaden reißt, wenn er Feuer nur riecht. Doch das Geheimnis seiner Kraft wurde nicht bekannt.
Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.
Darauf sagte Delila zu Simson: Du hast mich getäuscht und mir etwas vorgelogen. Sag mir doch endlich, womit man dich fesseln kann!
And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.
Er erwiderte ihr: Wenn man mich mit neuen Stricken fesselt, mit denen noch keine Arbeit getan worden ist, werde ich schwach und bin wie jeder andere Mensch.
And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
Delila nahm also neue Stricke und band ihn damit. Dann rief sie ihm zu: Philister über dir, Simson, während man in der Kammer saß und lauerte. Er aber riss die Stricke von seinen Armen wie Fäden.
Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread.
Darauf sagte Delila zu Simson: Bis jetzt hast du mich getäuscht und mir etwas vorgelogen. Sag mir doch, womit man dich fesseln kann! Er erwiderte ihr: Wenn du die sieben Locken auf meinem Kopf mit den Kettfäden des Webstuhls verwebst.
And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.
Sie schlug sie mit dem Pflock fest. Dann rief sie ihm zu: Philister über dir, Simson! Er fuhr aus dem Schlaf hoch und riss den Webepflock mit den Kettfäden heraus.
And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web.
Darauf sagte sie zu ihm: Wie kannst du sagen: Ich liebe dich!, wenn mir dein Herz nicht gehört? Jetzt hast du mich dreimal getäuscht und mir nicht gesagt, wodurch du so große Kraft besitzt.
Delilah Discovers the Secret
And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth.

And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;
er legte ihr sein ganzes Herz offen und sagte zu ihr: Kein Schermesser ist mir auf den Kopf gekommen; denn ich bin vom Mutterleib an Gott als Nasiräer geweiht. Würden mir die Haare geschoren, dann würde meine Kraft von mir weichen; ich würde schwach und wäre wie jeder andere Mensch.
That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a rasor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.
Da sah Delila, dass er ihr sein ganzes Herz offengelegt hatte. Sie schickte hin und rief die Philisterfürsten und ließ ihnen sagen: Kommt diesmal her! Denn er hat mir sein ganzes Herz offengelegt. Die Philisterfürsten kamen zu ihr herauf und brachten das Geld mit hinauf.
And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.
Delila ließ Simson auf ihren Knien einschlafen, rief nach dem Mann und schnitt dann die sieben Locken auf seinem Kopf ab. So begann sie ihn zu überwinden und seine Kraft wich von ihm.
And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.
Dann rief sie: Philister über dir, Simson! Er erwachte aus seinem Schlaf und dachte: Ich werde auch diesmal wie bisher entkommen und mich freischütteln. Denn er wusste nicht, dass der HERR von ihm gewichen war.
And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.
Da packten ihn die Philister und stachen ihm die Augen aus. Sie führten ihn nach Gaza hinab und fesselten ihn mit zwei Bronzeketten und er musste im Gefängnis mit der Handmühle mahlen.
But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.
Doch sein Haupthaar fing wieder an zu wachsen, nachdem es abgeschnitten worden war.
Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.
Die Fürsten der Philister versammelten sich, um ihrem Gott Dagon ein großes Opfer darzubringen und ein Freudenfest zu feiern. Sie sagten: Unser Gott hat unseren Feind Simson in unsere Hand gegeben.
Samson's Vengeance and Death
Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.

Als das Volk Simson sah, priesen sie ihren Gott, denn sie sagten: Unser Gott hat unseren Feind in unsere Hand gegeben, ihn, der unser Land verwüstet hat, der so viele von uns erschlagen hat.
And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us.
Und es geschah, als ihr Herz fröhlich war, sagten sie: Ruft Simson her, damit er für uns Späße macht! Und sie ließen Simson aus dem Gefängnis holen und er machte vor ihnen Späße. Sie stellten ihn zwischen die Säulen.
And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars.
Simson aber sagte zu dem Jungen, der ihn an der Hand führte: Lass mich los und lass mich die Säulen betasten, auf denen das Haus errichtet ist, ich will mich daran lehnen.
And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.
Das Haus war voll von Männern und Frauen; alle Fürsten der Philister waren da und auf dem Flachdach saßen etwa dreitausend Männer und Frauen. Sie alle schauten zu, wie Simson seine Späße machte.
Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.
Simson aber rief zum HERRN und sagte: Herr und GOTT, denk doch an mich und gib mir nur noch dieses eine Mal Kraft, Gott, damit ich an den Philistern Rache nehmen kann, wenigstens für eines von meinen beiden Augen.
And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
Dann ertastete Simson die beiden Mittelsäulen, auf denen das Haus fest aufruhte, und stemmte sich gegen sie, gegen die eine mit der rechten Hand und gegen die andere mit der linken.
And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.
Er sagte: So mag ich denn zusammen mit den Philistern sterben. Er streckte sich mit aller Kraft und das Haus stürzte über den Fürsten und über allen Leuten, die darin waren, zusammen. So war die Zahl derer, die er bei seinem Tod tötete, größer als die, die er während seines Lebens getötet hatte.
And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.
Seine Brüder und die ganze Familie seines Vaters kamen herab; sie hoben ihn auf, brachten ihn hinauf und begruben ihn zwischen Zora und Eschtaol im Grab seines Vaters Manoach. Simson hatte Israel zwanzig Jahre lang gerichtet.
Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the buryingplace of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years.
