Hoffnung für Alle
Am Abend ging es in den Palast, und am nächsten Morgen kehrte es in den zweiten Harem zurück. Dort wohnten die Nebenfrauen des Königs, für die der königliche Eunuch Schaaschgas verantwortlich war. Keines der Mädchen durfte noch einmal zum König kommen, es sei denn, es hatte ihm ganz besonders gefallen und er ließ es mit Namen rufen.

Und wenn eine des Abends hineinkam, die ging des Morgens von ihm in das andere Frauenhaus unter die Hand des Saasgas, des Königs Kämmerers, des Hüters der Kebsweiber. Und sie durfte nicht wieder zum König kommen, es lüstete denn den König und er ließ sie mit Namen rufen.

Am Abend gingen sie hinein und am Morgen kamen sie zurück und wurden in den zweiten Frauenpalast gebracht und dem königlichen Eunuchen Schaaschgas anvertraut, dem Aufseher der Nebenfrauen. Sie durften nicht mehr zum König gehen, außer wenn der König Gefallen an ihnen gefunden hatte und sie ausdrücklich rufen ließ.

In the evening she went, and on the morrow she returned into the second house of the women, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king's chamberlain, which kept the concubines: she came in unto the king no more, except the king delighted in her, and that she were called by name.
