Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.

Ich öffnete meinen Mund, und er gab mir die Rolle zu essen.
So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.
Dabei sagte er: »Iss dieses Buch und füll deinen Bauch damit!« Ich gehorchte, und es schmeckte süß wie Honig.
And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.
Dann sprach er zu mir: »Du Mensch, geh zum Volk Israel und sag ihnen, was ich dir in den Mund lege.
And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.
Ich sende dich nicht zu einem Volk mit fremder Sprache, die du nicht verstehst, sondern zum Volk Israel, deinen eigenen Landsleuten.
For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel;
Wenn ich dich zu anderen Völkern mit fremder Sprache schicken würde, und seien es noch so viele — sie würden trotzdem auf dich hören.
Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.
Das Volk Israel aber wird deine Worte in den Wind schlagen, denn sie weigern sich, meine Weisungen anzunehmen. Das ganze Volk ist starrköpfig und hartherzig.
But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted.
Darum will ich dich genauso unbeirrbar machen wie sie, und ich gebe dir die Kraft, ihnen die Stirn zu bieten.
Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads.
Ja, ich mache dich unnachgiebig, härter noch als einen Kieselstein, hart wie einen Diamanten. Hab keine Angst vor diesem widerspenstigen Volk!«
As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.
Und weiter sprach er zu mir: »Du Mensch, achte auf alles, was ich dir sage, und nimm es dir zu Herzen!
Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears.
Geh zu den Leuten aus deinem Volk, die nach Babylonien verschleppt worden sind, und richte ihnen aus, was ich, Gott, der HERR, ihnen sagen möchte — ganz gleich ob sie es annehmen oder nicht.«
And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.
Dann hob der Geist Gottes mich empor, und ich hörte hinter mir eine laute Stimme, die rief: »Preist die Herrlichkeit des HERRN in seiner himmlischen Wohnung!«
Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his place.
Die Flügel der vier Gestalten rauschten und schlugen in der Luft aneinander, gleichzeitig rasselten die Räder neben ihnen; es dröhnte wie bei einem gewaltigen Erdbeben.
I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against them, and a noise of a great rushing.
Der Geist Gottes, der mich emporgehoben hatte, trug mich nun fort. Ich war innerlich aufgewühlt und verstört, denn was der HERR mir gezeigt hatte, lastete schwer auf mir.
So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me.
So kam ich zu den Verschleppten, die in Tel-Abib nahe beim Fluss Kebar wohnten. Sieben Tage lang saß ich dort in ihrer Mitte — wie betäubt von dem, was ich gesehen hatte.
Then I came to them of the captivity at Telabib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.
Nach diesen sieben Tagen empfing ich eine Botschaft vom HERRN. Er sprach zu mir:
A Watchman for Israel
And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

»Du Mensch, ich habe dich zum Wächter für das Volk Israel bestimmt. Du sollst mir gut zuhören, wenn ich dir eine Botschaft gebe, und die Israeliten in meinem Auftrag warnen!
Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.
Wenn ich einem gottlosen Menschen den Tod androhe, dann sollst du ihn ermahnen und zur Umkehr bewegen, um sein Leben zu retten. Tust du dies nicht, so wird er sterben, wie er es für seine Sünde verdient hat. Dich aber werde ich für seinen Tod zur Rechenschaft ziehen.
When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
Wenn er sich jedoch trotz deiner Warnung nicht von seinen falschen Wegen abbringen lässt, dann ist er selbst schuld an seinem Tod. Du aber hast dein Leben gerettet.
Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
Auch wenn sich ein rechtschaffener Mensch von mir abwendet und Unrecht tut, und du warnst ihn nicht, werde ich ihn zu Fall bringen. Ja, wegen seiner Sünde wird er umkommen, und das Gute, das er zuvor getan hat, wird vergessen sein. Dich aber werde ich für seinen Tod zur Rechenschaft ziehen.
Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
Warnst du ihn jedoch davor zu sündigen, und er nimmt es sich zu Herzen, dann lasse ich ihn am Leben. Und auch du hast dein Leben gerettet.«
Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.
Wieder wurde ich vom HERRN ergriffen. Er befahl mir: »Steh auf und geh hinaus ins Tal, denn dort will ich mit dir reden!«
And the hand of the LORD was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee.
Ich stand auf und ging ins Tal hinaus. Dort erblickte ich den HERRN in seiner Herrlichkeit, so wie ich ihn schon am Fluss Kebar gesehen hatte. Ich fiel nieder und berührte mit meinem Gesicht den Boden.
Then I arose, and went forth into the plain: and, behold, the glory of the LORD stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar: and I fell on my face.
Da erfüllte mich der Geist Gottes und richtete mich wieder auf. Gott sprach zu mir: »Geh in dein Haus und schließ dich ein!
Then the spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet, and spake with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thine house.
Dort wirst du, Mensch, wie mit Stricken gefesselt, damit du nicht mehr unter die Leute gehen kannst.
But thou, O son of man, behold, they shall put bands upon thee, and shall bind thee with them, and thou shalt not go out among them:
Ich lasse dir die Zunge am Gaumen kleben und mache dich stumm. Denn du sollst die Israeliten nicht mehr ermahnen können, dieses widerspenstige Volk.
And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover: for they are a rebellious house.
Sobald ich aber wieder mit dir rede, löse ich deine Zunge; dann sollst du ihnen ausrichten: ›So spricht Gott, der HERR …‹ Wer es hören will, der soll hören; wer es nicht annehmen will, der lasse es bleiben! Denn sie sind nun einmal ein widerspenstiges Volk.«
But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.
