Später zeigte sich Jesus seinen Jüngern noch einmal am See Genezareth. Das geschah so:
Simon Petrus, Thomas, der Zwilling genannt wurde, Nathanael aus Kana in Galiläa, die beiden Söhne von Zebedäus und zwei andere Jünger waren dort zusammen.
Simon Petrus sagte: »Ich gehe jetzt fischen!« »Wir kommen mit«, meinten die anderen. Sie gingen zum Ufer, stiegen ins Boot und fuhren los. Aber während der ganzen Nacht fingen sie keinen einzigen Fisch.
“I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
Im Morgengrauen stand Jesus am Ufer. Doch die Jünger erkannten ihn nicht.
Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
Jesus rief ihnen zu: »Freunde, habt ihr nicht ein paar Fische zu essen?« »Nein«, antworteten sie.
He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?”
“No,” they answered.
“No,” they answered.
Da forderte er sie auf: »Werft das Netz auf der rechten Seite des Bootes aus, dann werdet ihr einen guten Fang machen!« Sie folgten seinem Rat und fingen so viele Fische, dass sie das Netz nicht mehr einholen konnten.
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
Jetzt sagte der Jünger, den Jesus sehr lieb hatte, zu Petrus: »Das ist der Herr!« Kaum hatte Simon Petrus das gehört, zog er sein Obergewand an, das er während der Arbeit abgelegt hatte, sprang ins Wasser und schwamm an das nahe Ufer.
Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water.
Die anderen Jünger waren noch etwa hundert Meter vom Ufer entfernt. Sie folgten Petrus mit dem Boot und zogen das gefüllte Netz hinter sich her.
Als sie aus dem Boot stiegen, sahen sie ein Kohlenfeuer, auf dem Fische brieten. Auch Brot lag bereit.
When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.
Jesus bat die Jünger: »Bringt ein paar von den Fischen her, die ihr gerade gefangen habt!«
Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.”
Simon Petrus ging zum Boot und zog das Netz an Land. Es war gefüllt mit 153 großen Fischen. Und obwohl es so viele waren, zerriss das Netz nicht.
So Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn.
»Kommt her und esst!«, sagte Jesus. Keiner von den Jüngern wagte zu fragen: »Wer bist du?« Aber sie alle wussten: Es ist der Herr.
Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord.
Jesus ging auf sie zu, nahm das Brot und verteilte es an sie, ebenso die Fische.
Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.
Dies war das dritte Mal, dass Jesus sich seinen Jüngern zeigte, nachdem er von den Toten auferstanden war.
This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.
Nachdem sie an diesem Morgen miteinander gegessen hatten, fragte Jesus Simon: »Simon, Sohn von Johannes, liebst du mich mehr als die anderen hier?« »Ja, Herr«, antwortete ihm Petrus, »du weißt, dass ich dich lieb habe.« »Dann sorge für meine Lämmer«, sagte Jesus.
Jesus Reinstates Peter
When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”
“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”
When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”
“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”
Jesus wiederholte seine Frage: »Simon, Sohn von Johannes, liebst du mich?« »Ja, Herr, du weißt doch, dass ich dich lieb habe«, antwortete Petrus noch einmal. Da sagte Jesus zu ihm: »Dann hüte meine Schafe!«
Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”
He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”
Und ein drittes Mal fragte Jesus: »Simon, Sohn von Johannes, hast du mich wirklich lieb?« Jetzt wurde Petrus traurig, weil Jesus ihm nun zum dritten Mal diese Frage stellte. Deshalb antwortete er: »Herr, du weißt alles. Du weißt doch auch, wie sehr ich dich lieb habe!« Darauf sagte Jesus: »Dann sorge für meine Schafe!
The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.
Ich sage dir die Wahrheit: Als du jung warst, hast du dir selbst den Gürtel umgebunden und bist gegangen, wohin du wolltest. Im Alter aber wirst du deine Hände ausstrecken; ein anderer wird dir den Gürtel darumbinden und dich dorthin führen, wo du nicht hingehen willst.«
Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.”
Damit deutete Jesus an, durch welchen Tod Petrus einmal Gott ehren würde. Dann forderte Jesus ihn auf: »Folge mir nach!«
Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”
Petrus wandte sich um und sah hinter ihnen den Jünger, den Jesus sehr lieb hatte. Es war derselbe, der beim letzten Abendessen seinen Platz ganz nah bei Jesus gehabt und ihn gefragt hatte: »Herr, wer von uns wird dich verraten?«
Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”)
Petrus fragte nun: »Herr, was wird denn aus ihm?«
When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”
Jesus erwiderte: »Wenn ich will, dass er so lange lebt, bis ich wiederkomme, was geht es dich an? Folge du mir nach!«
Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.”
So entstand unter denen, die sich zu Jesus bekannten, das Gerücht: »Dieser Jünger wird nicht sterben.« Aber das hatte Jesus nicht gesagt, sondern: »Wenn ich will, dass er so lange lebt, bis ich wiederkomme, was geht es dich an?«
Because of this, the rumor spread among the believers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?”
Ebendieser Jünger ist es, der all das bezeugt und hier aufgeschrieben hat. Und wir wissen, dass alles, was er bezeugt, wahr ist.
This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.
Noch vieles mehr hat Jesus getan. Aber wollte man das alles eins nach dem anderen aufschreiben — mir scheint, es wäre wohl auf der ganzen Welt nicht genügend Platz für die vielen Bücher, die dann noch geschrieben werden müssten.
Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.
