The Towns Given to the Levites

Die Israeliten gehorchten dem Gebot des HERRN und gaben den Leviten Städte und Weideplätze aus ihren Gebieten.
So by the command of the LORD the people of Israel gave the Levites the following towns and pasturelands out of their own grants of land.

The descendants of Aaron, who were members of the Kohathite clan within the tribe of Levi, were allotted thirteen towns that were originally assigned to the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin.
Den übrigen Nachkommen Kehats fielen zehn Städte in den Gebieten von Ephraim und Dan und im westlichen Gebiet von Manasse zu.

Die Israeliten teilten den Leviten diese Städte mit den umliegenden Weideplätzen zu, wie es das Los bestimmte. So hatte es der HERR durch Mose befohlen.
So the Israelites obeyed the LORD’s command to Moses and assigned these towns and pasturelands to the Levites by casting sacred lots.

Ajin, Jutta und Bet-Schemesch. Insgesamt erhielten sie neun Städte mit den dazugehörigen Weideplätzen von den Stämmen Juda und Simeon.
Ain, Juttah, and Beth-shemesh — nine towns from these two tribes.
Dazu kamen vom Stamm Benjamin die vier Städte Gibeon, Geba,
From the tribe of Benjamin the priests were given the following towns with their pasturelands: Gibeon, Geba,
Damit besaß das Priestergeschlecht von Aaron dreizehn Städte.
So in all, thirteen towns with their pasturelands were given to the priests, the descendants of Aaron.
Die übrigen Familien der Sippe Kehat vom Stamm Levi erhielten durch das Los einige Städte im Stammesgebiet von Ephraim.
The rest of the Kohathite clan from the tribe of Levi was allotted the following towns and pasturelands from the tribe of Ephraim:
Ihnen gehörte nun Sichem im Bergland, ein Zufluchtsort für Totschläger, außerdem Geser,
Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim (a city of refuge for those who accidentally killed someone), Gezer,
Kibzajim und Bet-Horon: vier Städte mit den dazugehörigen Weideplätzen.
Kibzaim, and Beth-horon — four towns.
Der Stamm Dan gab ihnen ebenfalls vier Städte mit Weiden: Elteke, Gibbeton, Ajalon und Gat-Rimmon.

Im westlichen Gebiet des Stammes Manasse bekamen sie die beiden Städte Taanach und Gat-Rimmon mit ihren Weiden.
The half-tribe of Manasseh allotted the following towns with their pasturelands to the priests: Taanach and Gath-rimmon — two towns.
Insgesamt gehörten den übrigen Familien der Sippe Kehat zehn Städte.
So in all, ten towns with their pasturelands were given to the rest of the Kohathite clan.
Der Sippe Gerschon vom Stamm Levi wurden im östlichen Gebiet des Stammes Manasse zwei Städte mit Weiden zugeteilt: im Land Baschan die Stadt Golan, einer der Zufluchtsorte für Totschläger, und Beëschtera.
The descendants of Gershon, another clan within the tribe of Levi, received the following towns with their pasturelands from the half-tribe of Manasseh: Golan in Bashan (a city of refuge for those who accidentally killed someone) and Be-eshterah — two towns.
Im Gebiet von Issachar erhielten sie vier Städte mit Weiden: Kirschjon, Daberat, Jarmut und En-Gannim,

und im Gebiet von Asser diese vier Städte: Mischal, Abdon, Helkat und Rehob.

Der Stamm Naftali gab drei Städte mit Weiden: den Zufluchtsort Kedesch in Galiläa sowie Hammot-Dor und Kartan.
From the tribe of Naphtali they received the following towns with their pasturelands: Kedesh in Galilee (a city of refuge for those who accidentally killed someone), Hammoth-dor, and Kartan — three towns.
Insgesamt besaß die Sippe Gerschon dreizehn Städte mit Weideflächen.
So in all, thirteen towns with their pasturelands were allotted to the clan of Gershon.
Die Sippe Merari, zu der alle übrigen Leviten gehörten, bekam vier Städte mit Weiden im Gebiet von Sebulon: Jokneam, Karta, Dimna und Nahalal.

Weitere vier Städte mit Weideplätzen teilte man ihnen im Gebiet des Stammes Ruben zu: Bezer, Jahaz, Kedemot und Mefaat.
Vom Stamm Gad erhielten sie Ramot im Land Gilead, den Zufluchtsort für Totschläger, Mahanajim, Heschbon und Jaser, ebenfalls vier Städte mit Weiden.

Insgesamt besaßen die restlichen Sippen des Stammes Levi, die Nachkommen von Merari, zwölf Städte.
So in all, twelve towns were allotted to the clan of Merari.
Alle Leviten erhielten zusammen 48 Städte in den verschiedenen Stammesgebieten Israels.
The total number of towns and pasturelands within Israelite territory given to the Levites came to forty-eight.
Jede dieser Städte war von Weideland umgeben.
Every one of these towns had pasturelands surrounding it.
So gab der HERR den Israeliten das ganze Land, wie er es ihren Vorfahren versprochen hatte. Sie nahmen es in Besitz und wohnten darin.
So the LORD gave to Israel all the land he had sworn to give their ancestors, and they took possession of it and settled there.
Der HERR hielt sein Wort und sorgte dafür, dass sie in Ruhe und Frieden leben konnten. Mit seiner Hilfe hatten die Israeliten alle Feinde besiegt.
And the LORD gave them rest on every side, just as he had solemnly promised their ancestors. None of their enemies could stand against them, for the LORD helped them conquer all their enemies.
