Und der Bote sprach zu David: Die Männer nahmen überhand wider uns und fielen zu uns heraus aufs Feld; wir aber waren an ihnen bis vor die Tür des Tors;

»Die Feinde waren stärker als wir«, erzählte er, »sie stürmten aus der Stadt und griffen uns auf freiem Feld an. Wir konnten sie bis unmittelbar vor die Tore der Stadt zurückdrängen.

Der Bote sagte zu David: Die Männer waren stärker als wir und waren gegen uns bis aufs freie Feld vorgedrungen; wir aber drängten sie bis zum Eingang des Tores zurück.
