Und der König Ahas gebot Uria, dem Priester, und sprach: Auf dem großen Altar sollst du anzünden die Brandopfer des Morgens und die Speisopfer des Abends und die Brandopfer des Königs und sein Speisopfer und die Brandopfer alles Volks im Lande samt ihrem Speisopfer und Trankopfer; und alles Blut der Brandopfer und das Blut aller andern Opfer sollst du darauf sprengen; aber mit dem ehernen Altar will ich denken, was ich mache.

Dem Priester Uria befahl Ahas: »Von jetzt an wirst du alle Opfer auf dem großen Altar darbringen: sowohl die täglichen Morgen- und Abendopfer als auch die verschiedenen Opfer für den König und für das Volk — die Brandopfer, Speiseopfer und Trankopfer. Auch das Blut der Opfertiere sollst du nur noch an den neuen Altar sprengen. Den alten bronzenen Altar aber werde nur noch ich benutzen, wenn ich von Gott Weisungen einholen will.«

Zugleich gab er dem Priester Urija die Anweisung: Auf dem neuen großen Altar sollst du das Brandopfer am Morgen und das Speiseopfer am Abend, das Brandopfer des Königs und sein Speiseopfer sowie das Brandopfer aller Bürger des Landes, ihr Speiseopfer und ihre Trankopfer darbringen. Auf ihn sollst du auch das Blut aller Brand- und Schlachtopfer sprengen. Was aber mit dem bronzenen Altar geschehen soll, will ich noch überlegen.

And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king's burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brasen altar shall be for me to inquire by.
