Aber einer sprach zum andern: Laßt uns nicht also tun; dieser Tag ist ein Tag guter Botschaft. Wo wir das verschweigen und harren, bis daß es lichter Morgen wird, wird unsre Missetat gefunden werden; so laßt uns nun hingehen, daß wir kommen und es ansagen dem Hause des Königs.

Doch dann sagten sie zueinander: »Eigentlich ist es nicht recht, was wir hier tun. Heute ist ein Freudentag! Wir haben eine so gute Nachricht für die Leute in der Stadt und behalten sie für uns. Wenn wir unsere Entdeckung erst morgen früh melden, machen wir uns schuldig. Kommt, lasst uns zurückgehen und im Königspalast alles berichten!«

Dann aber sagten sie zueinander: Wir handeln nicht recht. Heute ist ein Tag froher Botschaft. Wenn wir schweigen und bis zum Morgengrauen warten, trifft uns Schuld. Kommt also; wir gehen und melden es im Palast des Königs.

Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king's household.
