Da nun Joab sah, daß vor und hinter ihm Streit wider ihn war, erwählte er aus aller jungen Mannschaft in Israel und stellte sich gegen die Syrer.

Als Joab merkte, dass ihm von vorne und von hinten ein Angriff drohte, teilte er sein Heer. Er selbst wollte mit den besten Soldaten den Kampf gegen die Syrer aufnehmen.

Als Joab sah, dass ihm ein Angriff von vorn und von hinten drohte, traf er eine Auswahl aus der Kerntruppe Israels und stellte sie gegen die Aramäer auf.
