Und der Streit nahm zu des Tages. Und der König Israels stand auf seinem Wagen gegen die Syrer bis an den Abend und starb, da die Sonne unterging.

Aber der Kampf tobte an diesem Tag immer heftiger. Um den Syrern die Stirn zu bieten, blieb Ahab doch noch auf dem Schlachtfeld und hielt sich aufrecht in seinem Wagen. Gegen Abend, als die Sonne unterging, starb er.

Da aber die Schlacht an jenem Tag heftig wurde, hielt der König von Israel den Aramäern gegenüber im Wagen stand bis zum Abend. Zur Zeit des Sonnenuntergangs starb er.
