Da das alles war ausgerichtet, traten zu mir die Obersten und sprachen: Das Volk Israel und die Priester und Leviten sind nicht abgesondert von den Völkern in den Ländern nach ihren Greueln, nämlich die Kanaaniter, Hethiter, Pheresiter, Jebusiter, Ammoniter, Moabiter, Ägypter und Amoriter;

Nach einiger Zeit kamen führende Männer Israels zu mir und berichteten: »Das Volk, die Priester und die Leviten haben sich mit anderen Völkern im Land eingelassen, die abscheulichen Götzen dienen. Junge und ältere Männer von uns haben Frauen der Kanaaniter, Hetiter, Perisiter, Jebusiter, Ammoniter, Moabiter, Ägypter und Amoriter geheiratet. So hat sich das heilige Volk Gottes mit diesen Völkern vermischt — allen voran die führenden Männer und Beamten!«

Als das vollbracht war, kamen die Obersten zu mir und sagten: Das Volk Israel und die Priester und die Leviten haben sich nicht ferngehalten von den Völkern der Länder mit ihren Gräueln, von den Kanaanitern, Hetitern, Perisitern, Jebusitern, Ammonitern, Moabitern, Ägyptern und Amoritern.
