Dies ist es aber, was die Kinder Israel eingenommen haben im Lande Kanaan, das unter sie ausgeteilt haben der Priester Eleasar und Josua, der Sohn Nuns, und die obersten Väter unter den Stämmen der Kinder Israel.

Das Land Kanaan westlich des Jordan wurde unter die übrigen neuneinhalb Stämme aufgeteilt. Der Priester Eleasar, Josua und die Stammesoberhäupter losten aus, welcher Stamm welches Gebiet erhalten sollte. So hatte es der HERR durch Mose befohlen.

Das sind die Gebiete, die die Israeliten als Erbbesitz im Land Kanaan erhielten und die der Priester Eleasar sowie Josua, der Sohn Nuns, und die Anführer der Sippen der Israeliten zuteilten —
