Und der Mann machte sich auf und wollte ziehen mit seinem Kebsweib und mit seinem Knechte. Aber sein Schwiegervater, der Dirne Vater, sprach zu ihm: Siehe, der Tag hat sich geneigt, und es will Abend werden; bleib über Nacht. Siehe, hier ist Herberge noch diesen Tag; bleibe hier über Nacht und laß dein Herz guter Dinge sein. Morgen stehet ihr früh auf und ziehet eures Weges zu deiner Hütte.

Am Nachmittag erhob sich der Levit, um sich mit seiner Nebenfrau und seinem Knecht auf den Weg zu machen. »Sieh doch«, wandte sein Schwiegervater ein, »der Tag geht zu Ende, bald wird es dunkel. Bleib über Nacht und mach es dir hier bequem! Morgen früh könnt ihr dann aufbrechen und nach Hause zurückkehren.«

Dann stand der Mann auf, um mit seiner Nebenfrau und seinem Knecht abzureisen. Sein Schwiegervater aber, der Vater der jungen Frau, sagte zu ihm: Sieh doch, der Tag geht zu Ende und es wird Abend. Bleibt über Nacht hier! Siehe, der Tag geht zur Neige; bleib über Nacht hier und lass dein Herz froh sein! Morgen früh könnt ihr euch auf den Weg machen und du kannst zu deinem Zelt gehen!

And when the man rose up to depart, he, and his concubine, and his servant, his father in law, the damsel's father, said unto him, Behold, now the day draweth toward evening, I pray you tarry all night: behold, the day groweth to an end, lodge here, that thine heart may be merry; and to morrow get you early on your way, that thou mayest go home.
