“The LORD your God will clear away these nations before you little by little; you will not be able to put an end to them quickly, for the wild beasts would grow too numerous for you.

And the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.

The Lord your God will drive out those nations before you, little by little. You will not be allowed to eliminate them all at once, or the wild animals will multiply around you. -

Nach und nach wird er diese Völker vertreiben. Ihr werdet sie zwar nicht alle auf einmal bezwingen, denn sonst würden sich die wilden Tiere zu stark vermehren und euch schaden.

Doch der HERR, dein Gott, wird diese Völker dir nur nach und nach aus dem Weg räumen. Du kannst sie nicht rasch ausmerzen, weil sonst die wilden Tiere überhandnehmen und dir schaden.
