David replied, “Tomorrow we celebrate the new moon festival. I’ve always eaten with the king on this occasion, but tomorrow I’ll hide in the field and stay there until the evening of the third day.

And David said unto Jonathan, Behold, to morrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third day at even.

Darauf sagte David: »Morgen beginnt doch das Neumondfest. Da sollte ich eigentlich als Gast beim königlichen Festmahl erscheinen. Doch ich komme wohl besser nicht, sondern verstecke mich bis übermorgen Abend irgendwo in der Nähe.

David antwortete Jonatan: Du weißt doch, morgen ist Neumond. Da müsste ich unbedingt am Mahl des Königs teilnehmen. Lass mich fortgehen, damit ich mich bis übermorgen Abend auf dem Feld versteckt halte!
