The LORD hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man.

Der HERR hat dir vergolten alles Blut des Hauses Sauls, daß du an seiner Statt bist König geworden. Nun hat der HERR das Reich gegeben in die Hand deines Sohnes Absalom; und siehe, nun steckst du in deinem Unglück; denn du bist ein Bluthund.

Ja, du bist schuld daran, dass Saul und seine Familie umgekommen sind, du hast die Herrschaft einfach an dich gerissen! Jetzt aber straft dich der HERR für das unschuldig vergossene Blut: Er hat deinen Sohn Absalom an deiner Stelle zum König gemacht und dich ins Unglück gestürzt. Etwas Besseres hast du auch nicht verdient, du Mörder!«
