Er aber sprach zu ihm: Mein Herr, du erkennest, daß ich zarte Kinder bei mir habe, dazu säugende Schafe und Kühe; wenn sie einen Tag übertrieben würden, würde mir die ganze Herde sterben.

And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.

Aber Jakob entgegnete: »Mein Herr, du siehst, dass ich kleine Kinder bei mir habe. Auch bei meinen Herden gibt es viele säugende Schafe, Ziegen und Rinder. Wenn ich die Tiere nur einen Tag überanstrenge, sterben sie!
