Von Ziklag aus unternahmen David und seine Männer Raubzüge. Mal fielen sie bei den Geschuritern ein, dann wieder bei den Girsitern oder bei den Amalekitern. Alle diese Stämme wohnten südlich von Juda bis hinunter nach Schur und an die Grenze zu Ägypten.
