Doch sie mussten vor den Israeliten fliehen. David vernichtete siebentausend aramäische Kriegswagen und tötete vierzigtausend Mann von ihren Fußtruppen. Auch Schobach, den Oberbefehlshaber des Heeres, tötete er.

Wieder wurden die Syrer in die Flucht geschlagen. Doch diesmal erlitten sie schwere Verluste: 7000 Wagenlenker und 40.000 Fußsoldaten fielen. Auch der Heerführer Schobach wurde von David getötet.
