Иов, ты, если хочешь, можешь звать, но нет здесь никого, кто б мог тебе ответить! Ни к одному из ангелов тебе не повернуться!
For vexation killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the simple.
Гнев глупого — убьёт его, а слишком сильные волнения смертельны будут для простака.
I myself saw the foolish taking root, but suddenly I cursed his habitation.
Я видел глупого, который думал, что ему ничто не угрожает. Но неожиданно он умер.
His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, and there is no deliverer:
Никто помочь не может своим детям. И не было в суде того, кто б мог их защитить.
Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh even out of the thorns; and the snare gapeth for his substance.
Голодные съедали его труп. Те люди собирали даже зёрна, растущие среди терновника. Всё взяли жадные, что было.
For evil cometh not forth from the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;
Плохие времена не из пыли рождены, и не восстают они из грязи.
For man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upwards.
Но человек родился для несчастий, и это так же, как искра вылетает из костра.
But as for me I will seek unto God, and unto God commit my cause;
Но если бы, Иов, я был тобою, я б повернулся к Богу и сказал Ему о всех своих несчастьях.
Who doeth great things and unsearchable, marvellous things without number;
Прекрасных дел Господних люди понять не могут.
Who giveth rain on the face of the earth, and sendeth waters on the face of the fields;
Конца не знают чудеса Господни. Он шлёт земле дожди и воду на поля.
Setting up on high those that are low; and mourners are exalted to prosperity.
Господь смиренных возвышает и делает печального счастливым.
He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, and their hands carry not out the enterprise.
Бог останавливает замыслы злоумных и не дает успеха им достичь.
He taketh the wise in their own craftiness; and the counsel of the wily is carried headlong:
Бог ловит мудрых в их ловушки, чтобы их планы сбыться не могли.
They meet with darkness in a the daytime, and grope at midday as in the night.
Такие умники и среди бела дня все спотыкаются и чувствуют себя как человек, что ищет путь в потемках.
And he saveth the needy from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.
Господь от смерти охраняет бедных. Господь спасает и от могущества злоумных хитрецов.
So the poor hath what he hopeth for, and unrighteousness stoppeth her mouth.
У бедных есть всегда надежда. Тех, кто Бога не боится, Он карает.
Behold, happy is the man whom +God correcteth; therefore despise not the chastening of the Almighty.
Счастлив человек, когда его Господь поправит. Не отвергай поучений Всемогущего.
For he maketh sore, and bindeth up; he woundeth, and his hands make whole.
Бог накладывает повязки на раны, им нанесённые. Он может кого-то поранить, но Его же руки и лечат.
He will deliver thee in six troubles, and in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
От шести бед Бог тебя спасёт, не страшны будут тебе семь несчастий.
In famine he will redeem thee from death, and in war from the power of the sword.
Бог от смерти тебя спасёт, когда будет голод, Он не даст тебе умереть во время войны.
Thou shalt be hidden from the scourge of the tongue; and thou shalt not be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
Могут плохое сказать о тебе люди с острыми языками. Но Господь охранит тебя. И не надо тебе бояться, если что-то случится плохое.
At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh, and of the beasts of the earth thou shalt not be afraid.
Ты посмеешься над разрухой и голодом, и звери хищные тебя не устрашат.
For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field, and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
Даже с камнями в поле ты найдёшь примирение. И дикие звери будут в мире с тобой.
And thou shalt know that thy tent is in peace; and thou wilt survey thy fold, and miss nothing.
Ты будешь жить в мире, поскольку в безопасности твой шатер, и, сосчитав всё своё, увидишь — ничего не пропало.
And thou shalt know that thy seed is numerous, and thine offspring as the herb of the earth.
У тебя будет много детей, так же много, как на земле травинок.
Thou shalt come to the grave in a ripe age, as a shock of corn is brought in in its season.
Ты будешь подобен пшенице, что дождалась уборки урожая. Так и ты доживёшь до старости.
