Darby Bible Translation

New King James Version

  • In My Distress, I Cried to the Lord

{A Song of degrees.} In my trouble I called unto Jehovah, and he answered me.
  • Plea for Relief from Bitter Foes

    A Song of Ascents.

In my distress I cried to the Lord,
    And He heard me.
  • Jehovah, deliver my soul from the lying lip, from the deceitful tongue.
  • Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips
    And from a deceitful tongue.
  • What shall be given unto thee, what shall be added unto thee, thou deceitful tongue?
  • What shall be given to you,
Or what shall be done to you,
    You false tongue?
  • Sharp arrows of a mighty one, with burning coals of broom-wood.
  • Sharp arrows of the [a]warrior,
With coals of the broom tree!
  • Woe is me, that I sojourn in Meshech, that I dwell among the tents of Kedar!
  • Woe is me, that I dwell in Meshech,
That I dwell among the tents of Kedar!
  • My soul hath long dwelt with them that hate peace.
  • My soul has dwelt too long
    With one who hates peace.
  • I [am for] peace; but when I speak, *they* [are] for war.
  • I am for peace;
But when I speak, they are for war.
