Zechariah's Call to Repentance
In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of Jehovah unto Zechariah the prophet, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, saying,

Восьмого місяця другого року Да́рія було́ Господнє слово до пророка Заха́рія, сина Берехії, сина Іддового, таке:
Jehovah hath been very wroth with your fathers.
„Розгні́вався Господь на батьків ваших палю́чим гнівом.
And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Return unto me, saith Jehovah of hosts, and I will return unto you, saith Jehovah of hosts.
І скажи їм: Так говорить Госпо́дь Савао́т: Верні́ться до Мене, — говорить Господь Саваот, — і верну́ся до вас, говорить Господь Саваот.
Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets cried, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings; but they did not hearken nor attend unto me, saith Jehovah.
Не будьте, як ваші батьки́, що до них кли́кали стародавні пророки, говорячи: Так говорить Господь Саваот: Верніться з доріг ваших злих і з чи́нів ваших лихих! Та не слуха́ли ви й не прислуха́лись до Мене, говорить Господь.
Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?
Де вони, батьки ваші? А пророки — чи ж наві́ки живуть?
But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? And they turned and said, Like as Jehovah of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.
Та слова́ Мої й постано́ви Мої, що Я наказа́в рабам Моїм пророкам, чи ж не досягли́ вони до ваших батькі́в? І вернулись вони та й сказали: Як заду́мав Господь Саваот зробити нам за нашими дорогами й за нашими чинами, так зробив Він із нами“.
A Man among the Myrtle Trees
Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of Jehovah unto Zechariah the prophet, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, saying,

Двадцятого й четвертого дня, одина́дцятого місяця, — це місяць шеват, — за другого року Да́рія було слово Господнє до пророка Заха́рія, сина Берехії сина Іддового, таке:
I saw by night, and behold, a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle-trees that were in the low valley; and behind him were red, bay, and white horses.
„Бачив я цієї но́чі, аж ось на черво́ному коні їде муж, і він стоїть між ми́ртами, що в глибині, а за ним ко́ні черво́ні, руді́ та білі.
And I said, My lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these are.
І сказав я: „Що́ це, мій пане?“ І відказав мені той ангол, що говорив зо мною: „Я тобі покажу́, що́ це таке“.
And the man that stood among the myrtle-trees answered and said, These are they whom Jehovah hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.
І відповів той муж, що стояв між ми́ртами, та й сказав: „Це ті, що Господь їх послав обійти́ землю“.
And they answered the angel of Jehovah that stood among the myrtle-trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and behold, all the earth sitteth still and is at rest.
І відповіли́ вони Господньому анголові, що стояв між ми́ртами, та й сказали: „Перейшли ми землю, і ось уся земля сидить спокі́йно“.
Mercy Promised to Jerusalem
And the angel of Jehovah answered and said, Jehovah of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these seventy years?
And the angel of Jehovah answered and said, Jehovah of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these seventy years?
І відповів ангол Господній та й сказав: „Го́споди Савао́те, аж до́ки Ти не змилосе́рдишся над Єрусалимом та над Юдиними міста́ми, на які Ти гніваєшся оце сімдеся́т літ?“
And Jehovah answered the angel that talked with me good words, comforting words.
І відповів Господь анголові, що говорив зо мною, слова́ добрі, слова́ вті́шливі.
And the angel that talked with me said unto me, Cry, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy,
І сказав до мене той ангол, що говорив зо мною: „Клич, говорячи: Так говорить Господь Саваот: Піклуюся Я про Єрусалим та про Сіон великим піклува́нням.
and I am wroth exceedingly with the nations that are at ease; for I was but a little wroth, and they helped forward the affliction.
І гнівом великим Я гніваюся на ті спокі́йні наро́ди, на яких Я мало гнівався, а вони допомогли́ злому.
Therefore thus saith Jehovah: I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith Jehovah of hosts, and the line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.
Тому так промовляє Господь: Вернуся Я до Єрусалиму з милосердям, храм Мій буде збудо́ваний у ньому, — говорить Госпо́дь Савао́т, — а мірни́чий шнур буде розтя́гнений над Єрусалимом.
Cry further, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: My cities shall yet overflow with prosperity, and Jehovah shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.
Ще клич та й скажи: Так говорить Господь Саваот: Знов добром перепо́вняться міста́ Мої, і Господь ще поті́шить Сіона, і ще ви́бере Єрусалима!“
