God Loves a Cheerful Giver

For concerning the ministration which [is] for the saints, it is superfluous my writing to you.

Якщо говорити про допомогу Божим людям в Юдеї, то немає потреби писати вам про це.

For I know your readiness, which I boast of as respects you to Macedonians, that Achaia is prepared since a year ago, and the zeal [reported] of you has stimulated the mass [of the brethren].

Я знаю, що ви завжди готові допомогти. Я хвалю вас перед македонцями, розповідаючи, що церкви в Ахаї були готові допомогти ще з минулого року. Я казав і про те, що ваше завзяття заохотило багатьох інших допомагати.

But I have sent the brethren, in order that our boasting about you may not be made void in this respect, in order that, as I have said, ye may be prepared;

Та я посилаю до вас братів, щоб ця наша похвала не була марною і щоб ви, як я й казав, були напоготові.

lest haply, if Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, *we*, that we say not *ye*, may be put to shame in this confidence.

Інакше, якщо македонці прийдуть зі мною і побачать, що ви не готові збирати пожертви, то ми будемо осоромлені (не кажучи вже про вас) тим, що були так упевнені в вас.

I thought it necessary therefore to beg the brethren that they would come to you, and complete beforehand your fore-announced blessing, that this may be ready thus as blessing, and not as got out of you.

Я вважав за потрібне просити братів піти до вас поперед нас і заздалегідь підготувати ваші щедрі дарунки, що були обіцяні раніше. І щоб то були щедрі й добровільні дари, а не віддані проти волі через вашу пожадливість.

But this [is true], he that sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he that sows in [the spirit of] blessing shall reap also in blessing:

Пам’ятайте: хто скупо посіє, той і пожне скупо. Хто ж сіє щедро, той і врожай матиме багатий.

each according as he is purposed in his heart; not grievingly, or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

Нехай кожен жертвує так, як вирішив у своєму серці, без жалю. Адже Бог любить тих, хто дає з радістю.

But God is able to make every gracious gift abound towards you, that, having in every way always all-sufficiency, ye may abound to every good work:

8

Бог може збагатити вас усілякими дарами, та так, що завжди мали б ви у всьому достаток і навіть надлишок для всіляких добрих справ.

according as it is written, He has scattered abroad, he has given to the poor, his righteousness remains for ever.

Як сказано у Святому Писанні:
«Дарує щедро Він і бідним подає. І доброта його ніколи не минає».

10

Now he that supplies seed to the sower and bread for eating shall supply and make abundant your sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness:

Хто дає зерно сіячеві, і хліб на поживу, Той забезпечить та примножить ваше насіння і збільшить врожай праведності вашої.

enriched in every way unto all free-hearted liberality, which works through us thanksgiving to God.

І станете ви багатими всім, щоб були ви щедрими завжди. Бо щедрість ваша через нас створює багато подячних молитв Богові.

Because the ministration of this service is not only filling up the measure of what is lacking to the saints, but also abounding by many thanksgivings to God;

Адже ваше святе служіння не лише задовольнить потреби Божих людей, а й спонукає їх бути вдячними Всевишньому.

13

they glorifying God through the proof of this ministration, by reason of your subjection, by profession, to the glad tidings of the Christ, and your free-hearted liberality in communicating towards them and towards all;

Завдяки доказам вашого служіння, люди Божі прославлятимуть Господа. Вони вихвалятимуть вашу покірливість, що йде від визнання віри в Добру Звістку про Ісуса Христа. Вони вихвалятимуть вашу щедрість, з якою ви ділитеся з ними і з усіма людьми.

and in their supplication for you, full of ardent desire for you, on account of the exceeding grace of God [which is] upon you.

І коли молитимуться за вас, вони прагнутимуть побачити вас — тих, хто сподобився такої вийняткової благодаті Божої.

Thanks [be] to God for his unspeakable free gift.

Дяка ж Богу за Його чудовий дар, який людині не осягнути розумом!
