Abram and Lot Separate
So Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the Negeb.

Abram zog von Ägypten in den Negeb hinauf, er und seine Frau mit allem, was ihm gehörte, und mit ihm auch Lot.
Now Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.
Abram hatte einen sehr ansehnlichen Besitz an Vieh, Silber und Gold.
And he journeyed on from the Negeb as far as Bethel to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,
Er ging von einem Lagerplatz zum anderen weiter, vom Negeb bis nach Bet-El, bis zu der Stätte, an der anfangs sein Zelt gestanden hatte, zwischen Bet-El und Ai,
to the place where he had made an altar at the first. And there Abram called upon the name of the Lord.
der Stätte, an der er früher den Altar errichtet hatte. Dort rief Abram den Namen des HERRN an.
And Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents,
Auch Lot, der mit Abram ging, besaß Schafe und Ziegen, Rinder und Zelte.
so that the land could not support both of them dwelling together; for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together,
Das Land reichte nicht hin, dass sich beide nebeneinander darin hätten ansiedeln können; denn ihr Besitz war zu groß und so konnten sie sich nicht miteinander niederlassen.
and there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. At that time the Canaanites and the Perizzites were dwelling in the land.
So entstand Streit zwischen den Hirten der Herde Abrams und den Hirten der Herde Lots; auch siedelten damals noch die Kanaaniter und die Perisiter im Land.
Da sagte Abram zu Lot: Zwischen mir und dir, zwischen meinen und deinen Hirten soll es keinen Streit geben; wir sind doch Brüder.
Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself from me. If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right, or if you take the right hand, then I will go to the left.”
Liegt nicht das ganze Land vor dir? Trenn dich also von mir! Wenn du nach links willst, gehe ich nach rechts; wenn du nach rechts willst, gehe ich nach links.
And Lot lifted up his eyes and saw that the Jordan Valley was well watered everywhere like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, in the direction of Zoar. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)
Lot erhob seine Augen und sah, dass die ganze Jordangegend überall bewässert war. Bevor der HERR Sodom und Gomorra vernichtete, war sie bis Zoar hin wie der Garten des HERRN, wie das Land Ägypten.
So Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley, and Lot journeyed east. Thus they separated from each other.
Da wählte sich Lot die ganze Jordangegend aus. Lot brach nach Osten auf und sie trennten sich voneinander.
Abram settled in the land of Canaan, while Lot settled among the cities of the valley and moved his tent as far as Sodom.
Abram ließ sich im Land Kanaan nieder, während Lot sich in den Städten jener Gegend niederließ und seine Zelte bis Sodom hin aufschlug.
Now the men of Sodom were wicked, great sinners against the Lord.
Die Männer von Sodom aber waren sehr böse und sündigten vor dem HERRN.
The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,
Nachdem sich Lot von Abram getrennt hatte, sprach der HERR zu Abram: Erheb deine Augen und schau von der Stelle, an der du stehst, nach Norden und Süden, nach Osten und Westen!
for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever.
Das ganze Land nämlich, das du siehst, will ich dir und deinen Nachkommen für immer geben.
I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your offspring also can be counted.
Ich mache deine Nachkommen zahlreich wie den Staub auf der Erde. Nur wer den Staub auf der Erde zählen kann, wird auch deine Nachkommen zählen können.
Arise, walk through the length and the breadth of the land, for I will give it to you.”
Mach dich auf, durchzieh das Land in seiner Länge und Breite; denn dir werde ich es geben.
