King James Bible

  • Give Thanks to the Lord, for He Is Good

    Praise the Lord!
    Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
    for his steadfast love endures forever!
  • Give Thanks to the Lord, for He is Good

    Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
  • Who can utter the mighty deeds of the Lord,
    or declare all his praise?
  • Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise?
  • Blessed are they who observe justice,
    who do righteousness at all times!
  • Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.
  • Remember me, O Lord, when you show favor to your people;
    help me when you save them,a
  • Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;
  • that I may look upon the prosperity of your chosen ones,
    that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation,
    that I may glory with your inheritance.
  • That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.
  • Both we and our fathers have sinned;
    we have committed iniquity; we have done wickedness.
  • We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.
  • Our fathers, when they were in Egypt,
    did not consider your wondrous works;
    they did not remember the abundance of your steadfast love,
    but rebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea.
  • Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.
  • Yet he saved them for his name’s sake,
    that he might make known his mighty power.
  • Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
  • He rebuked the Red Sea, and it became dry,
    and he led them through the deep as through a desert.
  • He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.
  • So he saved them from the hand of the foe
    and redeemed them from the power of the enemy.
  • And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
  • And the waters covered their adversaries;
    not one of them was left.
  • And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.
  • Then they believed his words;
    they sang his praise.
  • Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.
  • But they soon forgot his works;
    they did not wait for his counsel.
  • They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:
  • But they had a wanton craving in the wilderness,
    and put God to the test in the desert;
  • But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
  • he gave them what they asked,
    but sent a wasting disease among them.
  • And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.
  • When men in the camp were jealous of Moses
    and Aaron, the holy one of the Lord,
  • They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.
  • the earth opened and swallowed up Dathan,
    and covered the company of Abiram.
  • The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.
  • Fire also broke out in their company;
    the flame burned up the wicked.
  • And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
  • They made a calf in Horeb
    and worshiped a metal image.
  • They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.
  • They exchanged the glory of Godb
    for the image of an ox that eats grass.
  • Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.
  • They forgot God, their Savior,
    who had done great things in Egypt,
  • They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;
  • wondrous works in the land of Ham,
    and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.
  • Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.
  • Therefore he said he would destroy them —
    had not Moses, his chosen one,
    stood in the breach before him,
    to turn away his wrath from destroying them.
  • Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.
  • Then they despised the pleasant land,
    having no faith in his promise.
  • Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:
  • They murmured in their tents,
    and did not obey the voice of the Lord.
  • But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.
  • Therefore he raised his hand and swore to them
    that he would make them fall in the wilderness,
  • Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:
  • and would make their offspring fall among the nations,
    scattering them among the lands.
  • To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.
  • Then they yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor,
    and ate sacrifices offered to the dead;
  • They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.
  • they provoked the Lord to anger with their deeds,
    and a plague broke out among them.
  • Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.
  • Then Phinehas stood up and intervened,
    and the plague was stayed.
  • Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.
  • And that was counted to him as righteousness
    from generation to generation forever.
  • And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.
  • They angered him at the waters of Meribah,
    and it went ill with Moses on their account,
  • They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:
  • for they made his spirit bitter,c
    and he spoke rashly with his lips.
  • Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.
  • They did not destroy the peoples,
    as the Lord commanded them,
  • They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:
  • but they mixed with the nations
    and learned to do as they did.
  • But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
  • They served their idols,
    which became a snare to them.
  • And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.
  • They sacrificed their sons
    and their daughters to the demons;
  • Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
  • they poured out innocent blood,
    the blood of their sons and daughters,
    whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan,
    and the land was polluted with blood.
  • And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
  • Thus they became unclean by their acts,
    and played the whore in their deeds.
  • Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
  • Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against his people,
    and he abhorred his heritage;
  • Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.
  • he gave them into the hand of the nations,
    so that those who hated them ruled over them.
  • And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.
  • Their enemies oppressed them,
    and they were brought into subjection under their power.
  • Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.
  • Many times he delivered them,
    but they were rebellious in their purposes
    and were brought low through their iniquity.
  • Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.
  • Nevertheless, he looked upon their distress,
    when he heard their cry.
  • Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:
  • For their sake he remembered his covenant,
    and relented according to the abundance of his steadfast love.
  • And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.
  • He caused them to be pitied
    by all those who held them captive.
  • He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.
  • Save us, O Lord our God,
    and gather us from among the nations,
    that we may give thanks to your holy name
    and glory in your praise.
  • Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.
  • Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
    from everlasting to everlasting!
    And let all the people say, “Amen!”
    Praise the Lord!
  • Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.
