King James Bible

  • Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So

    Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
    for his steadfast love endures forever!
  • His Loving Kindness Endures Forever

    O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
  • Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
    whom he has redeemed from troublea
  • Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
  • and gathered in from the lands,
    from the east and from the west,
    from the north and from the south.
  • And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
  • Some wandered in desert wastes,
    finding no way to a city to dwell in;
  • They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
  • hungry and thirsty,
    their soul fainted within them.
  • Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
  • Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
    and he delivered them from their distress.
  • Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.
  • He led them by a straight way
    till they reached a city to dwell in.
  • And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
  • Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
    for his wondrous works to the children of man!
  • Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
  • For he satisfies the longing soul,
    and the hungry soul he fills with good things.
  • For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
  • Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,
    prisoners in affliction and in irons,
  • Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron;
  • for they had rebelled against the words of God,
    and spurned the counsel of the Most High.
  • Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High:
  • So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor;
    they fell down, with none to help.
  • Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help.
  • Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
    and he delivered them from their distress.
  • Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.
  • He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,
    and burst their bonds apart.
  • He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.
  • Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
    for his wondrous works to the children of man!
  • Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
  • For he shatters the doors of bronze
    and cuts in two the bars of iron.
  • For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.
  • Some were fools through their sinful ways,
    and because of their iniquities suffered affliction;
  • Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
  • they loathed any kind of food,
    and they drew near to the gates of death.
  • Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.
  • Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
    and he delivered them from their distress.
  • Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.
  • He sent out his word and healed them,
    and delivered them from their destruction.
  • He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
  • Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
    for his wondrous works to the children of man!
  • Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
  • And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving,
    and tell of his deeds in songs of joy!
  • And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.
  • Some went down to the sea in ships,
    doing business on the great waters;
  • They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters;
  • they saw the deeds of the Lord,
    his wondrous works in the deep.
  • These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep.
  • For he commanded and raised the stormy wind,
    which lifted up the waves of the sea.
  • For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.
  • They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths;
    their courage melted away in their evil plight;
  • They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.
  • they reeled and staggered like drunken men
    and were at their wits’ end.b
  • They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end.
  • Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
    and he delivered them from their distress.
  • Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
  • He made the storm be still,
    and the waves of the sea were hushed.
  • He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
  • Then they were glad that the watersc were quiet,
    and he brought them to their desired haven.
  • Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
  • Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
    for his wondrous works to the children of man!
  • Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
  • Let them extol him in the congregation of the people,
    and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
  • Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
  • He turns rivers into a desert,
    springs of water into thirsty ground,
  • He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground;
  • a fruitful land into a salty waste,
    because of the evil of its inhabitants.
  • A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
  • He turns a desert into pools of water,
    a parched land into springs of water.
  • He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.
  • And there he lets the hungry dwell,
    and they establish a city to live in;
  • And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation;
  • they sow fields and plant vineyards
    and get a fruitful yield.
  • And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.
  • By his blessing they multiply greatly,
    and he does not let their livestock diminish.
  • He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.
  • When they are diminished and brought low
    through oppression, evil, and sorrow,
  • Again, they are minished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.
  • he pours contempt on princes
    and makes them wander in trackless wastes;
  • He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way.
  • but he raises up the needy out of affliction
    and makes their families like flocks.
  • Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock.
  • The upright see it and are glad,
    and all wickedness shuts its mouth.
  • The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
  • Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things;
    let them consider the steadfast love of the Lord.
  • Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.
