The words of Jeremiah, the son of Hilkiah, one of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin,
In diesem Buch sind die Worte von Jeremia aufgeschrieben. Er war ein Sohn von Hilkija und stammte aus einer Priesterfamilie aus Anatot, das im Stammesgebiet von Benjamin liegt.
to whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.
Jeremia empfing Botschaften vom HERRN ab dem 13. Regierungsjahr des judäischen Königs Josia, des Sohnes von Amon.
It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, and until the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the captivity of Jerusalem in the fifth month.
Auch später noch sprach Gott zu Jeremia, während der Regierungszeit des judäischen Königs Jojakim, des Sohnes von Josia, bis zum 5. Monat des 11. Regierungsjahres von König Zedekia, der auch ein Sohn von Josia war. In diesem Monat wurden die Einwohner Jerusalems in die Verbannung geführt.
The Call of Jeremiah
Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

Eines Tages sprach der HERR zu mir:
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

»Ich habe dich schon gekannt, ehe ich dich im Mutterleib bildete, und ehe du geboren wurdest, habe ich dich erwählt, um mir allein zu dienen. Du sollst ein Prophet sein, der den Völkern meine Botschaften verkündet.«
Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.”
Ich aber erwiderte: »O nein, mein HERR und Gott! Ich habe keine Erfahrung im Reden, denn ich bin noch viel zu jung!«
But the Lord said to me,
“Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’;
for to all to whom I send you, you shall go,
and whatever I command you, you shall speak.
“Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’;
for to all to whom I send you, you shall go,
and whatever I command you, you shall speak.
Doch der HERR entgegnete: »Sag nicht: Ich bin zu jung! Zu allen Menschen, zu denen ich dich sende, sollst du gehen und ihnen alles verkünden, was ich dir auftrage.
Do not be afraid of them,
for I am with you to deliver you,
for I am with you to deliver you,
Fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen, ich bin bei dir und werde dich beschützen. Darauf gebe ich, der HERR, mein Wort.«
Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me,
“Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
“Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
Er streckte mir seine Hand entgegen, berührte meinen Mund und sagte: »Ich lege dir meine Worte in den Mund
See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms,
to pluck up and to break down,
to destroy and to overthrow,
to build and to plant.”

und gebe dir Vollmacht über Völker und Königreiche. Du wirst sie niederreißen und entwurzeln, zerstören und stürzen, aber auch aufbauen und einpflanzen!«
Dann fragte er mich: »Jeremia, was siehst du dort?« »Einen Mandelbaumzweig, dessen Blüten bald aufgehen.«
Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”
»Richtig!«, sagte er. »Genauso wird alles in Erfüllung gehen, was ich ankündige. Dafür sorge ich.«
The word of the Lord came to me a second time, saying, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a boiling pot, facing away from the north.”
Wieder fragte mich der HERR: »Jeremia, was siehst du dort?« »Ich sehe einen Topf mit kochendem Wasser, der sich von Norden her gegen uns neigt.«
Da sprach der HERR zu mir: »Aus dem Norden wird das Unheil über alle Bewohner dieses Landes hereinbrechen.
For behold, I am calling all the tribes of the kingdoms of the north, declares the Lord, and they shall come, and every one shall set his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, against all its walls all around and against all the cities of Judah.
Denn ich rufe alle Völker aus dem Norden herbei — sie werden heranziehen, und jeder König wird seinen Thron vor den Toren von Jerusalem aufstellen. Dann rücken ihre Soldaten gegen Jerusalem und gegen alle Städte in Juda vor.
And I will declare my judgments against them, for all their evil in forsaking me. They have made offerings to other gods and worshiped the works of their own hands.
Ich werde mein Volk verurteilen für alles, was sie getan haben: Mich haben sie verlassen, anderen Göttern geopfert und sich vor selbst gemachten Götzenstatuen niedergeworfen.
Du aber mach dich bereit, geh zu ihnen und verkünde ihnen alles, was ich dir auftrage! Fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen, sonst sorge ich dafür, dass sie dich das Fürchten lehren.
And I, behold, I make you this day a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls, against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land.
Ich mache dich stark, Jeremia, stark wie eine Festung, wie eine Säule aus Eisen, wie eine Mauer aus Bronze. Denn du wirst gegen das ganze Land stehen, gegen die Könige von Juda und die führenden Männer, gegen die Priester und gegen das Volk.
