But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” — he then said to the paralytic — “Rise, pick up your bed and go home.”

When the crowds saw it, they were afraid, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to men.

Als Jesus weiterging, sah er einen Mann am Zoll sitzen. Er hieß Matthäus. Jesus forderte ihn auf: »Komm, folge mir nach!« Sofort stand Matthäus auf und ging mit ihm.
Später war Jesus mit seinen Jüngern bei Matthäus zu Gast. Matthäus hatte auch viele Zolleinnehmer und andere Leute mit schlechtem Ruf zum Essen eingeladen.
And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.
Jesus hörte das und antwortete: »Die Gesunden brauchen keinen Arzt, sondern die Kranken!
Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Begreift doch endlich, was Gott meint, wenn er sagt: ›Wenn jemand barmherzig ist, so ist mir das lieber als irgendwelche Opfer und Gaben.‹ Ich bin gekommen, um Sünder in die Gemeinschaft mit Gott zu rufen, und nicht solche, die sich sowieso für gut genug halten.«
An einem anderen Tag kamen die Jünger des Johannes zu Jesus und erkundigten sich: »Wir und auch die Pharisäer fasten regelmäßig. Warum tun deine Jünger das eigentlich nicht?«

Ebenso füllt niemand jungen, gärenden Wein in alte, brüchige Schläuche. Sonst platzen sie. Dann läuft der Wein aus, und die Schläuche sind unbrauchbar. Nein, jungen Wein füllt man in neue Schläuche! Nur so bleibt beides erhalten.«
A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed
While he was saying these things to them, behold, a ruler came in and knelt before him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.”

Als Jesus noch mit ihnen redete, kam ein Vorsteher der jüdischen Gemeinde zu ihm, warf sich vor ihm nieder und sagte: »Meine Tochter ist gerade gestorben. Aber komm doch und leg deine Hände auf sie! Dann wird sie wieder lebendig.«

for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I will be made well.”
Denn sie dachte: »Wenn ich wenigstens seine Kleider berühren kann, werde ich bestimmt gesund.«
Jesus drehte sich um, sah sie an und sagte: »Du kannst unbesorgt sein, meine Tochter! Dein Glaube hat dich geheilt.« Im selben Augenblick war die Frau gesund.
And when Jesus came to the ruler’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion,
Schließlich kam Jesus zum Haus des Vorstehers. Als er die Trauermusik hörte und die vielen aufgeregten Leute sah,
he said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him.

And the report of this went through all that district.

Sie folgten ihm bis in das Haus, in dem er wohnte. Jesus fragte sie: »Glaubt ihr denn, dass ich euch helfen kann?« »Ja, Herr!«, antworteten sie.
Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.”
Da berührte er ihre Augen und sagte: »Was ihr mir zutraut, das soll geschehen!«
And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, “See that no one knows about it.”
Sofort konnten sie sehen. Jesus aber befahl ihnen nachdrücklich: »Niemand darf von eurer Heilung erfahren!«
But they went away and spread his fame through all that district.

Danach zog Jesus durch alle Städte und Dörfer in dieser Gegend. Er lehrte in den Synagogen und verkündete überall im Land die rettende Botschaft von Gottes Reich. Wohin er auch kam, heilte er die Kranken und Leidenden.
