And Jesus said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment.
Jesus entgegnete: »Das war nur ein Zugeständnis an euer hartes Herz.

And he said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her,
Jesus sagte ihnen: »Wer sich von seiner Frau trennt und eine andere heiratet, der begeht Ehebruch seiner ersten Frau gegenüber.

Auch eine Frau bricht die Ehe, wenn sie sich von ihrem Mann trennt und einen anderen heiratet.«
Let the Children Come to Me
And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them.

Als Jesus das merkte, war er empört: »Lasst die Kinder zu mir kommen und haltet sie nicht zurück, denn Menschen wie ihnen gehört Gottes Reich.
Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
Ich versichere euch: Wer sich Gottes Reich nicht wie ein Kind schenken lässt, der wird ganz sicher nicht hineinkommen.«
And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.

The Rich Young Man

And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.
Jesus entgegnete: »Weshalb nennst du mich gut? Es gibt nur einen, der gut ist, und das ist Gott.
You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’”
Du kennst doch seine Gebote: Du sollst nicht töten! Du sollst nicht die Ehe brechen! Du sollst nicht stehlen! Sag nichts Unwahres über deinen Mitmenschen! Du sollst nicht betrügen! Ehre deinen Vater und deine Mutter!«
And he said to him, “Teacher, all these I have kept from my youth.”
»Lehrer«, antwortete der junge Mann, »an all das habe ich mich von Jugend an gehalten.«
And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
Jesus sah ihn voller Liebe an: »Etwas fehlt dir noch: Geh, verkaufe alles, was du hast, und gib das Geld den Armen. Damit wirst du im Himmel einen Reichtum gewinnen, der niemals verloren geht. Und dann komm und folge mir nach!«
Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
Als er das hörte, war der Mann tief betroffen. Traurig ging er weg, denn er besaß ein großes Vermögen.
And Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How difficult it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!”
Da schaute Jesus seine Jünger an und sagte zu ihnen: »Wie schwer ist es doch für Menschen, die viel besitzen, in Gottes Reich zu kommen!«
Seine Jünger waren über diese Worte erschrocken, aber Jesus betonte noch einmal: »Ja, ihr Lieben, wie schwer ist es doch, in Gottes Reich zu gelangen!
It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
Eher geht ein Kamel durch ein Nadelöhr, als dass ein Reicher in Gottes Reich kommt.«
Darüber waren die Jünger noch mehr entsetzt, und sie fragten sich: »Wer kann dann überhaupt gerettet werden?«
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.”
Jesus sah sie an und sagte: »Für Menschen ist es unmöglich, aber nicht für Gott. Für ihn ist alles möglich!«
Peter began to say to him, “See, we have left everything and followed you.”
Jetzt fragte Petrus: »Aber wie ist es nun mit uns? Wir haben doch alles aufgegeben und sind mit dir gegangen.«
Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel,
Jesus antwortete: »Ich versichere euch: Jeder, der sein Haus, seine Geschwister, seine Eltern, seine Kinder oder seinen Besitz zurücklässt, um mir zu folgen und die rettende Botschaft von Gott weiterzusagen,
who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.
der wird schon hier auf dieser Erde alles hundertfach zurückerhalten: Häuser, Geschwister, Mütter, Kinder und Besitz. All dies wird ihm — wenn auch mitten unter Verfolgungen — gehören und außerdem in der zukünftigen Welt das ewige Leben.
But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”
Viele, die jetzt einen großen Namen haben, werden dann unbedeutend sein. Und andere, die heute die Letzten sind, werden dort zu den Ersten gehören.«
Jesus Foretells His Death a Third Time

Auf dem Weg nach Jerusalem ging Jesus seinen Jüngern voran. Die Jünger waren beunruhigt, und auch die anderen Menschen, die ihnen folgten, hatten Angst. Unterwegs nahm Jesus seine zwölf Jünger beiseite und sprach noch einmal darüber, was ihn erwartete.
saying, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death and deliver him over to the Gentiles.
»Wir gehen jetzt nach Jerusalem. Dort wird der Menschensohn den obersten Priestern und den Schriftgelehrten ausgeliefert werden. Man wird ihn zum Tode verurteilen und denen übergeben, die Gott nicht kennen.
And they will mock him and spit on him, and flog him and kill him. And after three days he will rise.”
Die werden ihren Spott mit ihm treiben, ihn anspucken, auspeitschen und töten. Aber am dritten Tag wird er von den Toten auferstehen.«
The Request of James and John

Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?”
Jesus entgegnete: »Ihr wisst ja gar nicht, was ihr euch da wünscht! Denn auf mich wartet schweres Leid. Meint ihr, ihr könnt den bitteren Kelch trinken, so wie ich es tun muss? Oder könnt ihr die Taufe ertragen, die mir bevorsteht?«
And they said to him, “We are able.” And Jesus said to them, “The cup that I drink you will drink, and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized,
»Ja, das können wir!«, antworteten sie. Darauf erwiderte ihnen Jesus: »Ihr werdet tatsächlich so wie ich leiden und euer Leben hingeben müssen.
but to sit at my right hand or at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.”
Aber trotzdem kann ich nicht bestimmen, wer einmal die Plätze rechts und links neben mir einnehmen wird. Das hat bereits Gott entschieden.«

And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.
Da rief Jesus alle zusammen und sagte: »Ihr wisst, wie die Großen und Mächtigen dieser Welt ihre Völker unterdrücken. Wer die Macht hat, nutzt sie rücksichtslos aus.
Aber so soll es bei euch nicht sein! Im Gegenteil: Wer groß sein will, der soll den anderen dienen,
und wer der Erste sein will, der soll sich allen unterordnen.
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Denn auch der Menschensohn ist nicht gekommen, um sich bedienen zu lassen. Er kam, um zu dienen und sein Leben als Lösegeld hinzugeben, damit viele Menschen aus der Gewalt des Bösen befreit werden.«
Jesus Heals Blind Bartimaeus
And they came to Jericho. And as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside.

Dann kamen Jesus und seine Jünger nach Jericho. Als sie die Stadt wieder verlassen wollten, folgte ihnen eine große Menschenmenge. An der Straße saß ein Blinder und bettelte. Es war Bartimäus, der Sohn von Timäus.
And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
Als er hörte, dass es Jesus aus Nazareth war, der vorbeikam, begann er laut zu rufen: »Jesus, du Sohn Davids, hab Erbarmen mit mir!«
And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
Die Leute fuhren ihn an, er solle still sein. Aber er schrie nur noch lauter: »Du Sohn Davids, hab Erbarmen mit mir!«
And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart. Get up; he is calling you.”
Da blieb Jesus stehen: »Ruft ihn her zu mir.« Ein paar von den Leuten liefen zu dem Blinden und sagten zu ihm: »Nur Mut! Steh auf, Jesus ruft dich!«
And throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus.
Da warf er seinen Mantel zur Seite, sprang auf und kam zu Jesus.
And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And the blind man said to him, “Rabbi, let me recover my sight.”
»Was soll ich für dich tun?«, fragte ihn Jesus. »Rabbi«, flehte ihn der Blinde an, »ich möchte sehen können!«
