Provision for Priests and Levites

“The Levitical priests, all the tribe of Levi, shall have no portion or inheritance with Israel. They shall eat the Lord’s food offeringsa as theirb inheritance.

Священикам-Левитам, усьому Левієвому пле́мені не буде частки та спа́дку разом з Ізраїлем, — огняні́ жертви Господа та ча́стки Його будуть їм.

2

They shall have no inheritance among their brothers; the Lord is their inheritance, as he promised them.

2

А спа́дку не буде йому серед братів його: Господь — Він спа́док його, як Він говорив був йому.

3

And this shall be the priests’ due from the people, from those offering a sacrifice, whether an ox or a sheep: they shall give to the priest the shoulder and the two cheeks and the stomach.

А оце буде належати священикам від народу, від тих, хто приносить жертву: коли це віл, коли це одне з дрібної худоби, то даси священикові плече́, і що́ки, і шлу́нок.

4

The firstfruits of your grain, of your wine and of your oil, and the first fleece of your sheep, you shall give him.

4

Початок від збіжжя свого, від виноградного соку свого, і від оливки своєї, і початок стри́ження отари своєї даси ти йому.

5

For the Lord your God has chosen him out of all your tribes to stand and minister in the name of the Lord, him and his sons for all time.

Бо його вибрав Господь, Бог твій, зо всіх племен твоїх, щоб ставав він служити в Господнє Ім'я́, він та сини його по всі дні.

6

“And if a Levite comes from any of your towns out of all Israel, where he lives — and he may come when he desiresc — to the place that the Lord will choose,

А коли при́йде Левит з одної з брам твоїх з усього Ізраїля, де він мешкає там, і прибуде за всім жада́нням своєї душі до місця, яке вибере Господь,

7

and ministers in the name of the Lord his God, like all his fellow Levites who stand to minister there before the Lord,

і буде він служити в Ім'я́ Господа, Бога свого, як усі його браття Левити, що стоять там перед Господнім лицем,

8

then he may have equal portions to eat, besides what he receives from the sale of his patrimony.d

то по рівній частці будуть вони їсти, опріч маєтку, про́даного по батьках.

Abominable Practices

“When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations.

9

Коли будеш вхо́дити до кра́ю, що дає тобі Господь, Бог твій, то не навчися чинити такого, як гидо́та цих народів.

10

There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering,e anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer

10

Нехай не знайдеться між тобою такий, хто переводить свого сина чи дочку́ свою через огонь, хто ворожить ворожбу́, хто ворожить по хмарах, і хто ворожить по птахах, і хто чарівни́к,

11

or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead,

11

і хто чорнокни́жник, і хто викликає духа померлого та духа віщого, і хто питає померлих.

12

for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.

Бо гидо́та для Господа кожен, хто чинить таке, і через ті гидо́ти Господь, Бог твій, виганяє їх перед тобою.

13

You shall be blameless before the Lord your God,

13

Бездоганний будеш ти перед Господом, Богом своїм,

14

for these nations, which you are about to dispossess, listen to fortune-tellers and to diviners. But as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do this.

14

бо ці народи, що ти посядеш їх, слухають тих, хто ворожить по хмарах та ворожби́тів, а ти — не таке дав тобі Господь, Бог твій.

15

A New Prophet like Moses

“The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers — it is to him you shall listen —

Пророка з-посеред тебе, з братів твоїх, Такого, як я, поставить тобі Господь, Бог твій, — Його будете слухати,

16

just as you desired of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, when you said, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God or see this great fire any more, lest I die.’

згідно з усім, чого жадав ти від Господа, Бога свого, на Хори́ві в дні зборів, говорячи: „Щоб більше не чути мені голосу Господа, Бога свого, а цього великого огню вже не побачити й не померти“.

17

And the Lord said to me, ‘They are right in what they have spoken.

17

І сказав до мене Господь: „Добре сказали вони.

18

I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. And I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him.

18

Поставлю Пророка для них з-поміж їхніх братів, Такого, як ти, і дам Я слова Свої в у́ста Його, і Він їм говоритиме все, що Я накажу.

19

And whoever will not listen to my words that he shall speak in my name, I myself will require it of him.

19

І станеться, кожен, хто не слухатиме слів Моїх, що Той Пророк говоритиме Моїм Ім'я́м, — Я покара́ю того.

20

But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, orf who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.’

20

А той пророк, що зухвало відважиться промовляти Моїм Ім'я́м слова́, яких Я не наказав був йому говорити, і що буде говорити ім'я́м інших богів, хай помре той пророк“.

21

And if you say in your heart, ‘How may we know the word that the Lord has not spoken?’ —

21

А коли ти скажеш у серці своєму: Як ми пізнаємо те слово, якого Господь не говорив?

22

when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.

22

Що́ буде говорити той пророк Ім'я́м Господа, і не станеться та річ, і не при́йде, то це те слово, якого не сказав Господь. У зухва́лості говорив його той пророк, і ти не будеш боятися його.
