sagten die Fürsten der Ammoniter zu Hanun, ihrem Herrn: Will David wirklich deinen Vater vor deinen Augen ehren, weil er Leute schickt, die dir sein Beileid aussprechen sollen? Hat David seine Diener nicht viel eher zu dir geschickt, um die Stadt zu durchforschen und auszukundschaften und sie dann verwüsten zu lassen?

sprachen die Gewaltigen der Kinder Ammon zu ihrem Herrn, Hanun: Meinst du, daß David deinen Vater ehren wolle, daß er Tröster zu dir gesandt hat? Meinst du nicht, daß er darum hat seine Knechte zu dir gesandt, daß er die Stadt erforsche und erkunde und umkehre?

sagten die Fürsten des Landes zu König Hanun: »Glaubst du wirklich, David hat diese Männer nur zu dir gesandt, um deinem Vater die letzte Ehre zu erweisen und dir sein Beileid auszusprechen? Das ist doch nur ein Vorwand! Spione sind sie, die unsere Hauptstadt auskundschaften sollen, weil David sie bald angreifen und erobern will!«
