Die große Stadt brach in drei Teile auseinander und die Städte der Völker stürzten ein. Gott hatte sich an Babylon, die Große, erinnert und reichte ihr den Becher mit dem Wein seines rächenden Zornes.

Und aus der großen Stadt wurden drei Teile, und die Städte der Heiden fielen. Und Babylon, der großen, ward gedacht vor Gott, ihr zu geben den Kelch des Weins von seinem grimmigen Zorn.

Die große Stadt Babylon zerbrach in drei Teile, und die Städte der Welt sanken in Trümmer. Gott hatte Babylon und ihre Sünden nicht vergessen. Nun musste sie den Kelch, der mit Gottes furchtbarem Zorn gefüllt ist, bis zur bitteren Neige leeren.
