Divisions of the Levites
Now these are the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron; Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
Now these are the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron; Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
Auch die Nachkommen von Aaron wurden in verschiedene Gruppen aufgeteilt. Aarons Söhne hießen Nadab, Abihu, Eleasar und Itamar.
But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children: therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest's office.
Nadab und Abihu starben noch vor ihrem Vater und hinterließen keine männlichen Nachkommen. Eleasar und Itamar wurden Priester.
And David distributed them, both Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, according to their offices in their service.
David teilte die Priester in Dienstgruppen ein. Zadok, ein Nachkomme von Eleasar, und Ahimelech, ein Nachkomme von Itamar, halfen ihm dabei:
And there were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar; and thus were they divided. Among the sons of Eleazar there were sixteen chief men of the house of their fathers, and eight among the sons of Ithamar according to the house of their fathers.
Eleasar hatte mehr männliche Nachkommen als Itamar. Darum wurde die Sippe Eleasar in sechzehn Dienstgruppen eingeteilt, die Sippe Itamar in acht. Jede Gruppe wurde von einem Sippenoberhaupt geleitet.
Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors of the house of God, were of the sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar.
Die Diensteinteilung wurde durch das Los bestimmt, denn die Priester, die im Heiligtum vor Gott den höchsten Dienst versahen, sollten aus beiden Sippen stammen.
And Shemaiah the son of Nethaneel the scribe, one of the Levites, wrote them before the king, and the princes, and Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and before the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites: one principal household being taken for Eleazar, and one taken for Ithamar.
Bei der Auslosung waren die Nachkommen von Eleasar und Itamar abwechselnd an der Reihe. Dabei waren anwesend: der König, die führenden Männer Israels, der Priester Zadok, Ahimelech, der Sohn von Abjatar, und die Sippenoberhäupter der Priester und Leviten. Der Schreiber Schemaja, ein Sohn von Netanel aus dem Stamm Levi, schrieb die Dienstgruppen in der Reihenfolge auf, in der sie ausgelost wurden:
Now the first lot came forth to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,
1. Jojarib; 2. Jedaja; 3. Harim; 4. Seorim; 5. Malkija; 6. Mijamin; 7. Hakkoz; 8. Abija; 9. Jeschua; 10. Schechanja; 11. Eljaschib; 12. Jakim; 13. Huppa; 14. Jeschebab; 15. Bilga; 16. Immer; 17. Hesir; 18. Pizez; 19. Petachja; 20. Jeheskel; 21. Jachin; 22. Gamul; 23. Delaja; 24. Maasja.
These were the orderings of them in their service to come into the house of the LORD, according to their manner, under Aaron their father, as the LORD God of Israel had commanded him.
Dieser Einteilung entsprechend mussten die Priester in den Tempel des HERRN kommen und ihren Dienst versehen, so wie es der HERR, der Gott Israels, durch ihren Stammvater Aaron befohlen hatte.
The Remainder of the Levites
And the rest of the sons of Levi were these: Of the sons of Amram; Shubael: of the sons of Shubael; Jehdeiah.
And the rest of the sons of Levi were these: Of the sons of Amram; Shubael: of the sons of Shubael; Jehdeiah.
Weitere Sippenoberhäupter der Leviten waren: Jechdeja, der über Schubaël von Amram abstammte;
Concerning Rehabiah: of the sons of Rehabiah, the first was Isshiah.
Jischija, ein Nachkomme von Rehabja;
Of the Izharites; Shelomoth: of the sons of Shelomoth; Jahath.
Jahat, der über Schelomit von Jizhar abstammte;
And the sons of Hebron; Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, Jekameam the fourth.
Hebrons Söhne in der Reihenfolge ihres Alters: Jerija, Amarja, Jahasiël und Jekamam;
Of the sons of Uzziel; Michah: of the sons of Michah; Shamir.
Schamir, der über Micha von Usiël abstammte;
The brother of Michah was Isshiah: of the sons of Isshiah; Zechariah.
Secharja, ein Nachkomme von Michas Bruder Jischija.
The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi: the sons of Jaaziah; Beno.
Die Söhne von Merari hießen Machli, Muschi und Jaasija.
The sons of Merari by Jaaziah; Beno, and Shoham, and Zaccur, and Ibri.
Die Söhne von Jaasija, Meraris Sohn, waren Schoham, Sakkur und Ibri.
Of Mahli came Eleazar, who had no sons.
Machlis Söhne hießen Eleasar und Kisch. Eleasar hatte keine Söhne, Kischs Sohn war Jerachmeel.
The sons also of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites after the house of their fathers.
Die Söhne von Muschi hießen Machli, Eder und Jeremot. Dies waren weitere Sippen der Leviten.
These likewise cast lots over against their brethren the sons of Aaron in the presence of David the king, and Zadok, and Ahimelech, and the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites, even the principal fathers over against their younger brethren.
Wie für die Priester, so wurde auch für sie die Diensteinteilung durch das Los bestimmt. Dabei wurde die Familie eines Sippenoberhaupts genauso behandelt wie die seines jüngsten Bruders. Wieder waren König David, Zadok, Ahimelech und die Sippenoberhäupter der Priester und Leviten anwesend.
