Descendants of Reuben
Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.

Dies ist ein Verzeichnis der Nachkommen von Ruben, dem ältesten Sohn von Israel. Ruben war der erste Sohn. Aber weil er mit einer Frau seines Vaters geschlafen hatte, musste er sein Erstgeburtsrecht an die Söhne seines Bruders Josef abtreten. And his brethren by their families, when the genealogy of their generations was reckoned, were the chief, Jeiel, and Zechariah,

Gegen Osten breiteten sie sich bis zur Wüste aus, die beim Euphrat beginnt, denn in Gilead hatten sich ihre Herden sehr stark vermehrt.
And in the days of Saul they made war with the Hagarites, who fell by their hand: and they dwelt in their tents throughout all the east land of Gilead.
Während König Sauls Regierungszeit führten sie Krieg gegen die Hagariter. Sie töteten sie und ließen sich dort nieder, wo die Hagariter gewohnt hatten. So gehörte nun das ganze Gebiet Ost-Gilead den Nachkommen von Ruben.

And the children of Gad dwelt over against them, in the land of Bashan unto Salchah:

Die Nachkommen von Gad wohnten in der Gegend von Baschan und Salcha, gegenüber dem Gebiet des Stammes Ruben:
Joel the chief, and Shapham the next, and Jaanai, and Shaphat in Bashan.
Joel war das Oberhaupt, Schafam sein Stellvertreter; auch Janai und Schafat waren führende Männer. Sie alle wohnten mit ihren Sippen in Baschan.
And their brethren of the house of their fathers were, Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jachan, and Zia, and Heber, seven.
Dazu kamen weitere sieben Männer mit ihren Sippen: Michael, Meschullam, Scheba, Jorai, Jakan, Sia und Eber.
These are the children of Abihail the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz;
Diese sieben waren die Söhne von Abihajil, der in direkter Linie von Huri, Jaroach, Gilead, Michael, Jeschischai, Jachdo und Bus abstammte.
Ahi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, chief of the house of their fathers.
Ahi, der Sohn von Abdiël und Enkel von Guni, war das Oberhaupt dieser Sippen.
And they dwelt in Gilead in Bashan, and in her towns, and in all the suburbs of Sharon, upon their borders.
Die Gaditer wohnten in den Städten der Gebiete Gilead und Baschan. Auch das ganze Weideland von Scharon bis hin zur Grenze gehörte ihnen.
All these were reckoned by genealogies in the days of Jotham king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.
Alle diese Sippen wurden zur Zeit der Könige Jotam von Juda und Jerobeam von Israel in das Stammesregister aufgenommen.
Victory over the Hagarites
The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, were four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore, that went out to the war.

Die Stämme Ruben, Gad und der halbe Stamm Manasse hatten ein Heer von 44.760 Mann. Dazu gehörten alle wehrfähigen Männer, die mit Pfeil und Bogen, mit Schwert und Schild umgehen konnten und im Kampf geübt waren.
And they made war with the Hagarites, with Jetur, and Nephish, and Nodab.
Sie führten Krieg gegen die hagaritischen Stämme, gegen Jetur, Nafisch und Nodab.
And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.

For there fell down many slain, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their steads until the captivity.
In der Schlacht waren sehr viele Feinde gefallen, denn Gott selbst kämpfte für Israel. Die Israeliten wohnten in dem eroberten Gebiet, bis sie nach Assyrien verschleppt wurden.
The Half-Tribe of Manasseh
And the children of the half tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land: they increased from Bashan unto Baalhermon and Senir, and unto mount Hermon.

Die eine Hälfte des Stammes Manasse wohnte in einem Gebiet, das sich von Baschan bis zum Berg Hermon erstreckte. Dieser halbe Stamm war sehr groß.
And these were the heads of the house of their fathers, even Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valour, famous men, and heads of the house of their fathers.
Die Oberhäupter seiner Sippen hießen: Efer, Jischi, Eliël, Asriël, Jirmeja, Hodawja und Jachdiël. Sie alle waren erfahrene Soldaten, Männer von Rang und Namen.
And they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them.
Doch die Oststämme wurden dem Gott ihrer Vorfahren untreu. Sie liefen den Göttern der Völker nach, die er ihretwegen vertrieben hatte.
And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgathpilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day.
Darum ließ Gott den assyrischen König Tiglat-Pileser gegen sie in den Krieg ziehen. Der führte die Rubeniter, die Gaditer und den halben Stamm Manasse in die Gefangenschaft. Er verschleppte sie nach Halach, an den Fluss Habor, nach Hara und an den Fluss von Gosan. Dort leben sie heute noch.
