King James Bible

English Standard Version

  • Blessed is He who Considers the Poor

    {To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.} Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
  • O Lord, Be Gracious to Me

    To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

    Blessed is the one who considers the poor!a
    In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him;
  • The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.
  • the Lord protects him and keeps him alive;
    he is called blessed in the land;
    you do not give him up to the will of his enemies.
  • The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.
  • The Lord sustains him on his sickbed;
    in his illness you restore him to full health.b
  • I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
  • As for me, I said, “O Lord, be gracious to me;
    heal me,c for I have sinned against you!”
  • Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?
  • My enemies say of me in malice,
    “When will he die, and his name perish?”
  • And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.
  • And when one comes to see me, he utters empty words,
    while his heart gathers iniquity;
    when he goes out, he tells it abroad.
  • All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.
  • All who hate me whisper together about me;
    they imagine the worst for me.d
  • An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.
  • They say, “A deadly thing is poured oute on him;
    he will not rise again from where he lies.”
  • Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
  • Even my close friend in whom I trusted,
    who ate my bread, has lifted his heel against me.
  • But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.
  • But you, O Lord, be gracious to me,
    and raise me up, that I may repay them!
  • By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.
  • By this I know that you delight in me:
    my enemy will not shout in triumph over me.
  • And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.
  • But you have upheld me because of my integrity,
    and set me in your presence forever.
  • Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.
  • Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
    from everlasting to everlasting!
    Amen and Amen.
