The Transiency of the Wealth

{To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.} Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:

1

Проводиреві хора, для синів Корея, псальма. С лухайте се, всї народи; почуйте всї люде на землї.

Both low and high, rich and poor, together.

2

Сини людські як і сини мужів — старшин, разом багаті і вбогі.

3

My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

Уста мої скажуть мудре слово, і думкою серця мого помножу розум.

4

I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.

Прихилю ухо моє до притчі, при гуслях відкрию загадку мою:

Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?

Чому б то мусїв я боятись в день лиха, як обгорне мене несправедливість тих, що на здогін за мною,

They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;

Котрі вповають на свої достатки, і великостю багацтва свого величаються.

None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

Нїколи не здолїє чоловік спасти брата свого, і не зможе дати викуп за него,

8

(For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)

(Бо дороге спасеннє душі їх, і тому мусить понехати на віки.)

9

That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.

9

Щоб він жив на віки, і не бачив зотлїння.

10

For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.

Бачить бо він, що розумні вмирають, що дурень і безумний разом пропадають, і достатки свої другим лишають.

11

Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.

В них на думцї, що доми їх вічно стоять, і що домівки їх з рода в рід; вони називають країни своїми іменами.

12

Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.

12

Але ж чоловік, що живе в повазї, не зостанеться; він зрівняється скоту, що на зарізь.

13

This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.

13

Ся дорога для глупоти їх; а ті, що після них приходять, любуються їх думкою.

14

Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.

14

Кладуть їх, як овець, в підземну країну, а смерть пасе їх; аж поки вранцї возьмуть верх над ними праведні, і підземна країна пожере постать їх, кожного далеко від домівки його.

15

But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.

15

Та Бог спасе душу мою з рук підземної країни; він бо прийме мене.

16

Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;

16

Не лякайся, коли чоловік обогатїє, коли зросте слава дому його.

17

For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.

Бо, вмерши, не возьме нїчого з собою; не піде з ним пиха його до гробу.

18

Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.

Чи він благословив душу свою за життя свого, і будуть люде славити тебе за те, що ти твориш добро собі,

19

He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.

19

То все таки прийде вона до рідних батьків своїх; нїколи вже не побачать вони сьвітла.

20

Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.

20

Чоловік, що має повагу, а розуму не має, зрівняється скоту, що на зарізь.
