God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
Wer sich einredet: »Gott gibt es überhaupt nicht!«, der ist unverständig und dumm. Solche Menschen richten nichts als Unheil an und begehen abscheuliches Unrecht. Es gibt keinen, der Gutes tut.
Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Gott schaut vom Himmel auf die Menschen. Er will sehen, ob es wenigstens einen gibt, der einsichtig ist und nach ihm fragt.
Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God.
Aber alle haben sich von ihm abgewandt und sind nun verdorben, einer wie der andere. Da ist wirklich keiner, der Gutes tut, nicht ein Einziger!

Wissen denn diese Unheilstifter nicht, was sie tun? Sie verschlingen mein Volk wie ein Stück Brot und denken sich nichts dabei. Mit Gott rechnen sie überhaupt nicht mehr.
Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
Aber schon bald werden sie in Angst und Schrecken fallen, wie sie es vorher noch nie erlebt haben. Denn Gott wird die Feinde seines Volkes vollkommen vernichten, und ihre Gebeine werden achtlos liegen bleiben. Gott hat sie verworfen und wird sie darum scheitern lassen.
