Judgment against Judah and Jerusalem

Ihr werdet sehen: Der HERR, der allmächtige Gott, nimmt den Bewohnern von Juda und Jerusalem alles weg, worauf sie sich heute verlassen; jeden Vorrat an Brot und Wasser,
The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
alle tapferen Helden, Soldaten, Richter und Propheten, Wahrsager und führenden Männer,
The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counseller, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.
alle Offiziere, angesehenen Leute, Berater, geschickten Handwerker und klugen Beschwörer.
And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
Dafür gibt er ihnen unreife Kinder als Herrscher, die mit Willkür regieren.
And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.
Schreckliche Zustände werden herrschen: Einer unterdrückt den anderen; die Jungen lehnen sich gegen die Alten auf, die Ehrlosen gegen die geachteten Leute.
When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:
Die Männer einer Sippe werden sich an einen von ihnen klammern und ihn bestürmen: »Du hast wenigstens noch einen Mantel, wir dagegen haben alles verloren. Sei unser Anführer, übernimm doch das Kommando über diesen Trümmerhaufen!«
In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.
Doch der wird sich heftig wehren: »Lasst mich in Ruhe! Erwartet bloß keine Hilfe von mir! Ich habe selbst nichts zu essen und anzuziehen. Ich kann unmöglich unser Volk regieren. Schlagt euch das aus dem Kopf!«
For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
Jerusalem, ja, das ganze Land Juda geht dem Untergang entgegen, denn ihre Bewohner beleidigen den HERRN mit Wort und Tat, sie widersetzen sich seiner Hoheit und Macht.
The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
Ihre Bosheit steht ihnen ins Gesicht geschrieben. Ohne Hemmungen reden sie offen von ihren Sünden wie damals die Leute in Sodom. Aber das wird ihnen schlecht bekommen! Sie stürzen sich selbst ins Unglück.
Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
Vergesst nicht: Wer Gott gehorcht, dem geht es gut; er kann den Lohn für seine Taten genießen.
Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
Aber wehe dem, der sich Gott widersetzt! Für seine Bosheit wird er die gerechte Strafe erhalten.
As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
Ach, mein armes Volk! Merkst du nicht, was für Herrscher du hast? Sie machen mit dir, was sie wollen, und beuten dich aus, wo sie nur können. Du hast keine Anführer, sondern Verführer, die dich bloß vom richtigen Weg abbringen.
The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
Der HERR erhebt sich zur Gerichtsverhandlung, er steht auf, um die Völker zu richten.
The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
Die Sippenoberhäupter und die führenden Männer seines Volkes werden vorgeladen. »Ihr habt meinen Weinberg Israel geplündert«, klagt der HERR sie an. »Ihr nehmt den Armen ihren letzten Besitz und füllt damit eure eigenen Häuser.
What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
Wer gibt euch das Recht, mein Volk zu unterdrücken und die Hilflosen auszubeuten?«, fragt der HERR, der allmächtige Gott.
Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
So spricht der HERR: »Hochmütig sind sie, die Frauen von Jerusalem. Sie recken stolz den Kopf in die Höhe und werfen den Männern aufreizende Blicke zu. Sie gehen mit tänzelnden Schritten, damit ihre Fußkettchen klirren.«
Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.
Darum wird der Herr ihnen die Haare ausfallen lassen und sie nackt ausziehen.
In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,
Ja, es kommt der Tag, da nimmt der Herr den vornehmen Frauen allen Schmuck weg: die Fußspangen, die Stirnbänder und die Halsketten mit ihren kleinen Halbmonden,
The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
die prachtvollen Ohrgehänge, die Armreifen und die Schleier,
The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
die kostbaren Diademe, die Fußkettchen und Gürtel, die teuren Parfüme und alle Amulette,
The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
ebenso ihre Festkleider, Umhänge, Mäntel, Täschchen
The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.
und Spiegel, die Leinenwäsche, die Kopftücher und die weiten Überwürfe.
And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
Statt nach Parfüm zu duften, werden sie stinken. Anstelle der kostbaren Gürtel binden sie sich Stricke um. Keine kunstvollen Frisuren werden dann mehr ihren Kopf zieren, sondern hässliche Glatzen. Ihre feinen Seidenkleider müssen sie gegen Trauergewänder eintauschen. Mit ihrer Schönheit ist es dann vorbei. Nur Scham und Schande bleiben zurück.
Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.
Ach, Jerusalem! Alle deine Männer, auch die besten Soldaten, werden im Krieg fallen.
