Hezekiah's Illness and Recovery
In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.

In jenen Tagen wurde Hiskija todkrank. Da kam der Prophet Jesaja, der Sohn des Amoz, zu ihm und sagte: So spricht der HERR: Bestell dein Haus, denn du wirst sterben und nicht am Leben bleiben!
Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD,
Da drehte sich Hiskija mit dem Gesicht zur Wand und betete zum HERRN
And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
und sagte: Ach HERR, denk daran, dass ich in Treue und mit ungeteiltem Herzen vor dir gegangen bin und dass ich getan habe, was gut ist in deinen Augen. Und Hiskija weinte laut.
Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.
Geh und sprich zu Hiskija: So spricht der HERR, der Gott deines Vaters David: Ich habe dein Gebet gehört, ich habe deine Tränen gesehen. Siehe, ich füge deinen Tagen noch fünfzehn Jahre hinzu.
And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city.
Aus der Faust des Königs von Assur werde ich dich und diese Stadt retten und ich werde diese Stadt beschützen.
And this shall be a sign unto thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that he hath spoken;
Dies ist für dich das Zeichen vom HERRN, dass der HERR dieses Wort, das er gesprochen hat, ausführen wird:
Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.

I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years.

I said, I shall not see the LORD, even the LORD, in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.
Ich sprach: Ich darf den HERRN nicht mehr schauen im Land der Lebenden, keinen Menschen mehr sehen bei den Bewohnern der Erde.
Mine age is departed, and is removed from me as a shepherd's tent: I have cut off like a weaver my life: he will cut me off with pining sickness: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.
Meine Hütte bricht man ab, man deckt sie über mir ab wie das Zelt eines Hirten. Wie ein Weber das Tuch habe ich mein Leben zusammengerollt, vom Faden schneidet er mich ab; vom Tag bis in die Nacht gibst du mich preis.
I reckoned till morning, that, as a lion, so will he break all my bones: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.
Ich schrie bis zum Morgen. Wie ein Löwe zerbricht er all meine Knochen. Vom Tag bis in die Nacht gibst du mich preis.
Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes fail with looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake for me.
Wie ein Mauersegler, wie eine Schwalbe, so piepse ich, ich gurre wie eine Taube. Meine Augen blicken ermattet nach oben: Ich bin in Not, Herr. Tritt für mich ein!
What shall I say? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done it: I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul.
Was soll ich reden und was wird er zu mir sagen? Er selbst hat es doch getan! Ich irre umher all meine Jahre wegen der Bitternis meiner Seele.
O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live.
Herr, dadurch lebt man und darin liegt das ganze Leben meines Geistes, dass du mich stärkst. Gib mir das Leben!
Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.
Siehe, zum Heil war mir Bitteres, Bitteres. Du, du aber hast dich nach meiner Seele gesehnt — weg von der Gruft des Nichts. Denn du hast hinter deinen Rücken geworfen alle meine Sünden.
For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.
Ja, die Unterwelt dankt dir nicht, der Tod lobt dich nicht. Die in die Grube hinabgestiegen sind, hoffen nicht mehr auf deine Treue.
The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.
Der Lebende, der Lebende, er ist es, der dir dankt, wie ich am heutigen Tag. Ein Vater lässt die Kinder deine Treue erkennen.
The LORD was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD.
Der HERR ist da, um mich zu retten. Spielen wir mein Saitenspiel alle Tage unseres Lebens am Haus des HERRN!
For Isaiah had said, Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaister upon the boil, and he shall recover.
