A Message to Ahaz
And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

In der Zeit, als Ahas, der Sohn Jotams, des Sohnes Usijas, König von Juda war, zogen Rezin, der König von Aram, und Pekach, der Sohn Remaljas, der König von Israel, gegen Jerusalem hinauf in den Krieg; aber man konnte den Krieg gegen es nicht führen.
And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.
Als dem Haus David gemeldet wurde: Aram hat sich auf Efraim niedergelassen!, da zitterte sein Herz und das Herz seines Volkes, wie die Bäume des Waldes im Wind zittern.
Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shearjashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller's field;
Der HERR aber sagte zu Jesaja: Geh hinaus, Ahas entgegen, du und dein Sohn Schear-Jaschub, zum Ende der Wasserleitung des oberen Teiches, zur Straße am Walkerfeld.
And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.
Sag zu ihm: Hüte dich und verhalte dich still! Fürchte dich nicht und dein Herz sei nicht verzagt wegen dieser beiden rauchenden Holzscheitstummel, wegen des glühenden Zorns Rezins, Arams und des Sohnes Remaljas!
Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying,
Weil Aram gegen dich Böses plant, Efraim und der Sohn Remaljas, indem sie sagen:
Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal:
Wir wollen gegen Juda hinaufziehen, ihm Furcht einjagen und es uns gefügig machen; dann wollen wir den Sohn Tabeals als König in seiner Mitte einsetzen.
Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.
So spricht GOTT, der Herr: Das kommt nicht zustande, das wird nicht geschehen.
For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people.
Denn das Haupt von Aram ist Damaskus und das Haupt von Damaskus ist Rezin. Noch fünfundsechzig Jahre, dann wird Efraim zerschlagen, kein Volk mehr sein.
And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.
Das Haupt von Efraim ist Samaria und das Haupt von Samaria ist der Sohn Remaljas. Glaubt ihr nicht, so bleibt ihr nicht.
The Sign of Immanuel
Moreover the LORD spake again unto Ahaz, saying,

Der HERR sprach weiter zu Ahas und sagte:
Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.
Erbitte dir ein Zeichen vom HERRN, deinem Gott, tief zur Unterwelt oder hoch nach oben hin!
But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.
Ahas antwortete: Ich werde um nichts bitten und den HERRN nicht versuchen.
And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?
Da sagte er: Hört doch, Haus Davids! Genügt es euch nicht, Menschen zu ermüden, dass ihr auch noch meinen Gott ermüdet?
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Darum wird der Herr selbst euch ein Zeichen geben: Siehe, die Jungfrau hat empfangen, sie gebiert einen Sohn und wird ihm den Namen Immanuel geben.
Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
Er wird Butter und Honig essen bis zu der Zeit, in der er versteht, das Böse zu verwerfen und das Gute zu wählen.
For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.
Denn noch bevor das Kind versteht, das Böse zu verwerfen und das Gute zu wählen, wird das Land verlassen sein, vor dessen beiden Königen dich das Grauen packt.
Judgment to Come
The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.

Der HERR wird Tage kommen lassen über dich, über dein Volk und über das Haus deines Vaters, wie sie nicht gekommen sind seit dem Tag, an dem Efraim sich von Juda abwandte — nämlich den König von Assur!
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.
An jenem Tag wird der HERR den Fliegen an den Mündungen des Nil in Ägypten pfeifen und den Bienen im Land Assur
And they shall come, and shall rest all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all bushes.
und alle kommen und lassen sich nieder in den Schluchten und Felsspalten, in allen Hecken und Dornensträuchern.
In the same day shall the Lord shave with a rasor that is hired, namely, by them beyond the river, by the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the feet: and it shall also consume the beard.
An jenem Tag wird der Herr mit dem jenseits des Eufrat gemieteten Messer, mit dem König von Assur, den Kopf und die Schamhaare kahl scheren; auch den Bart schneidet er ab.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall nourish a young cow, and two sheep;
An jenem Tag wird ein Mann eine junge Kuh und zwei Schafe halten.
And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.
Und wegen der vielen Milch, die sie geben, wird er Butter essen. Denn Butter und Honig wird jeder essen, der im Land übrig geblieben ist.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place shall be, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings, it shall even be for briers and thorns.
An jenem Tag wird jedes Grundstück, auf dem tausend Weinstöcke im Wert von tausend Silberstücken stehen, den Dornen und Disteln gehören.
With arrows and with bows shall men come thither; because all the land shall become briers and thorns.
Nur mit Pfeil und Bogen geht man dorthin; denn das ganze Land wird Dornen und Disteln sein.
And on all hills that shall be digged with the mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of lesser cattle.
Alle Berge, die mit der Hacke behackt werden — dorthin geht man nicht mehr, aus Furcht vor Dornen und Disteln. Es wird zum Tummelplatz für Ochsen und zum Ort, den Schafe zertreten.
